When we asked to change the table because there was air conditioning at the neck, the answer of a waiter was “No, and I don’t know what to do if you are cold” although there was quietly a chance to change place. If it was not located in a central and tourist street it would have already closed. Perpetually annoyed waiters, even simply in taking our order. When we called them, they walked past us pretending not to see or hear. In the moment we asked to change tables because the air conditioning was getting to our necks, one waiter 's response was No, and I don't know what to do with you if you're cold although there was quietly the option of changing seats. Worst meal in Naples. The crocche were cold and tasteless......and who liked cold, fried, mashed potato? Uh, no one The pizzas were likewise bland. The mushrooms were canned. The crust was plain The bottle of wine we ordered was straight out of the fridge.......uh, no. Not sure why this place has all the hype. We didn't experience it
I know that coming to Naples for pizza is a classic tourist move, but I had to and I heard that Di Matteo was the best. Staff was nice and service was fast. The menu was extensive, but I opted for a margarita with mushroom. The crust was my favorite part- the dough was PERFECT! The sauce was light, flavor phenomenal but almost a little soupy. I noticed everyone eating with a fork/knife (the pizzas are not sliced) and not wanting to be the ignorant American, I did it too. It felt odd, but it was a more practical way to eat the pizza with the slippery toppings. This restaurant is very rustic and there is clearly a lot of history here.
Everyone says Napoli pizza, the birth place of pizza is where it 's at. I guess I have never had real pizza. The reviews I read are on point, simple flavors, slightly soupy, light crust. Now considering I almost stood in line for an hour waiting at that other place...I 'm glad I walked over here, maybe 5 minutes in line. The pizzas are individual sized and is folded over into quarters and placed in a paper wrapper to go. So Napoli aside, I think it was ok...since it felt like the pizzas were sitting in the glass showcase for a while...it surely wasn 't hot when you purchased it. The simple flavors weren 't mind blowing either, kinda forgettable to be honest.
Do you know when you reach the state of grace? No? here you have never eaten in the ancient pizza matteo in via the 94 courtyards to napoli. Well, one good thing about the other and the pizza, then. pizza. a beethoven symphony! you can also choose to take what they do, take away, but after passing the “fatality” of the endless row that can also reach an hour of waiting. we prefer to enjoy everything sitting, doing little less than a twenty minutes waiting and it was worth it, rather than to find on the road to eat standing. recommended!
