This is a much closer location than going to the one in China town in Chicago. This my second time here, and can't say anything negative, because the food is delicious. There is a large variety of food as well as milk teas that are available. The portion are good for the price too. Eating area is medium size, can fit a large crowd. Definitely recommend. What User dislikes about Joy Yee:
Today, we went to this restaurant for lunch to celebrate Mother's Day with a party of 4. We were surprised to see a $25 service fee on our bill. There were only 4 of us, and we don't mind a service fee for parties of 6 or more. To make matters worse, there was another charge that wasn't explained. I gave a 0 for the service. The bark soup and Malaysian seafood rolls were good, but the shrimp dish was overcooked and t... View all feedback.
The temperature of the PHO was perfect, hot enough to give a slight burn to my tongue. The flavor of the broth was very good and there was a generous amount of meat in the bowl. One unique aspect was that they did not provide a plate of additional garnishes; instead, they included basil and bean sprouts in the soup. I typically like to crush my basil, but they included whole leaves in the bowl. The amount of bean sprouts was also less than what I am used to, and I usually enjoy having more. I was disappointed that there was no lime or jalapeno provided, but they did include more red onion than usual. I requested hot chili oil, which was different from what I have had before - milder and possibly fermented. Overall, the PHO was not a home run for me, but I appreciated their unique take on the dish and found it to be quite tasty.
I ordered the Kimchi Fried Rice with Beef and Boba drinks for me and my friends! The prices are reasonable and the food is delicious!
This restaurant offers a diverse selection of boba teas and generous portions of food. I particularly enjoyed the chicken lettuce wraps.
I haven't been to this restaurant in years. The service was hurried and extremely rude. I didn't realize that service could be so bad to the point where servers are demanding you to order immediately! I will definitely not be dining in here again. I might consider getting takeout if I'm really hungry and this is the only option nearby. The poor service really detracts from the overall dining experience. I would recommend looking elsewhere if you don't want to be yelled at while trying to ask about the menu.
Joyyee used to be my favorite place for boba drinks about 5-10 years ago when it was one of the only boba shops in Naperville. The quality is still similar to how it was back then, and is generally average. I usually order the taro or caramel milk teas, which are always a safe choice. However, I did notice that the prices have increased significantly (mine was around $7). I would say it's fine to visit if you happen to be in the area, but there are now many other places in Naperville that offer similar quality at a better price, so this wouldn't be my top choice.
