They set up a lot of tables under umbrellas on the open square in front of the Gare. This is a good place to sit and rest and have a drink. The waitress was very funny. View all feedback.
What Laura K doesn't like about La Taverne de l'Irlandais:
The staff here are lovely, very friendly and helpful. The pub is well located for access to the train station and is well presented. Unfortunately however that's the best I can say about this pub. Apart from having Guinness on tap, and Kilkenny if I remember correctly, this pub has no obvious Irishness about it at all. Thanks to Thomas and his colleagues we enjoyed a wonderful dinner here last week. Tired from a long journey we enjoyed the salmon and the entrecote, some bread and on request the chef arranged some olive oil and salt to go with the bread. We ended dinner with some great desserts chocolate mousse (superb as another review also indicated) and creme brulee. @Thomas and colleagues, thanks again.
So we were hungry thought Irish Fish chips would be good. It wasn’t listed on the menu but the waiter said they could do it. The fish chips were plentiful but the fish tasted different than we’d ever had (like frozen fish sticks). We had one Guinness one cider and the total was 50 Euro unbelievably expensive!!!
Spent several post meal evenings in here and it was very good. Much cheaper than the other true bar on the square.
