Nellie's Deli - Nanaimo

Had lunch at this 3 table deli and the roast beef sandwich was good and they did not skimp on the ingredients, the bread was fresh. My companions said the soup was excellent. $5.99 for a soup and sandwich special. $7.99 for my sandwich.

When we are in Nanaimo at lunch time, we often stop at Nellie's. We usually share a sandwich and soup. The sandwiches have lots of meat, and you can choose what you have on it i.e. mayo, mustard, tomatoes etc. So it is very personalized. The soup is "house-made", and is hot and delicious! They also have delicious-looking desserts as well.

Recently moved here from the Peg, where Delis' are king, so i was craving a corned beef sandwich. Stopped in at Nellie's since their title says "Deli" but far from it! Their rye bread was square & thin which I've never seen before- usually fresh rye is a crusty round loaf where you can see the rye seeds in the bread- and they really skimp on the corned beef! The server asked what kind of veggies I would like on it ---WHOA--if I wanted that kind of sandwich I would go to Subway...further insult asked if I wanted mayo & salt & pepper! Clearly the owner & staff are not familiar with "THE" corned beef sandwich & to charge $8! Check out my pic for a true C.B.S

We go there for coffee and treats and sometimes buy meat pies to bring home. Friendly staff, home made food - can't go wrong.

Nice Dutch deli with lots of variety, the choices of licorice alone is impressive. Traditional almond cake made in house and soup, sandwiches, etc., to go or to eat in. Limited seating, best to take out. Pleasantly surprised that they have croquettes, made in house, frozen and ready to take home! Easy warm up instructions and great taste!
