Browns Socialhouse - Nanaimo

Uninspired menu, and difficult to find much to eat if you're not into the usual pizzas and burgers. Just your average one-notch-above fast food place.

Stopped by Brown's last night and was looking to get a seat in the main lounge area.... there were many empty tables, however, we were seated in a patio waiting area instead. We ordered a couple drinks... I had the red Sangaria which was tasty! I had the Cowgirl salad and found the portion to be average. The Chicken was dry... my friend ordered a gluten free dairy free pizza and was charged an extra $8 for additional toppings. Overall, my visit was very average.

Thought the food was very good and the waitstaff very friendly and helpful. French dip sandwich was great.

Been here a few times and the food is great (especially the spicy Chicken burger.) Service can be hit or miss, first time here I was given a bill for someone else all together which had a similar amount to mine and I wouldn't have noticed had I not double checked it. Last time I was here I got a nice spot in the covered patio and the wait staff must have been busy, as I finished my meal quickly, and it took longer for them to come over and take my payment then it did for me to eat. Finally one of the hostess' noticed this and grabbed a machine to come over and take my payment.

Browns Socialhouse in Nanaimo North is a cozy, friendly little place to relax and enjoy a fine meal. I started with the crunchy spicy tuna tacos, which were tasty and had a satisfying amount of crunch. My entrée was the steak sandwich, which was an unexpected delight. The steak was cooked to perfection and was one of the most flavorful and tender cuts of beef I've ever had, which is not something I would have expected from your average steak sandwich. I would love to see them prepare a proper steak dinner, with that entree being a strong indication of those abilities. Dessert was an Oreo Jar, a Oreo cheesecake in a Mason jar, which was velvety smooth, rich, with a crunchy Oreo base. Definitely worth going again. Have since tried their burgers and pizza, both of which were well above average.
