A local friend drove us to this restaurant. We were seated by a window overlooking the grass and vines. Our 5 course tasting dishes consisted of Thai Curry Chicken,Aranci Balls, Lamb on Skewers,Cous Cous, Fried Mullet and Chips and a wonderful mixed salad.Food was well presented and tastey. Wine was a crisp sauv blanc. Service was friendly and efficient. A real enjoyable venue. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Winehouse:
Unfortunately, our overall dining experience was marred by the presence of noisy children from the local area, who disrupted the ambiance of the restaurant by running around, standing on chairs, and making a lot of noise. When we politely asked the staff to close the dining doors to help reduce the noise, we were told that the owner liked kids and no action was taken. While we appreciate children being welcomed in re... View all feedback.
For those native to Aberfoyle Park this place is a stalwart.
We had a wonderful time at Happy Days in the Hunter Valley on a cold day. Our hearts go out to our friends in Sydney, but we were delighted to support local winemakers. Thank you Neil and Kellie for a fantastic experience. We highly recommend this restaurant!
Perfect variety of special dishes. Absolutely stunning correct versions of seafood, Middle Eastern and Australian dishes. The sticky date and plum frangipani desserts were out standing. One of the great meals of my life. I’m full but want more!!
On the road via Langhorne Ck, the Winehouse does a very good light lunch of breads, crackers and dips (and more substantial meals including local fish). Having tasted a few local reds beforehand, it was a good way to line the stomach and give some...time for the alcohol to disperse.
The weather wasn’t particularly welcoming, but everything else about this venue was pretty special. From the large, open car park leading to a well signposted venue, to the staff that welcomed seated us on arrival especially through to the perfect seasonal menu ..wine list that made choices almost impossible. The restaurant area itself, is large open with widely spaced tables as a result, less noisy than similar sized venues. Well done on that aspect alone! We had intended to order the Trio of dips for entree, followed by a main course possible dessert, but staff advised that the chosen entree was large in size suggested perhaps trying their smaller, Cheese, Chive Mustard Turkish bread instead. We went with their recommendation really enjoyed the flavour of the cheesy, mustard infused bread. Gorgeous, although our criticism was that it did not arrive prior to our main course, for which our waitress apologised profusely. For mains, we both went with Asian inspired dishes, with my spouse opting for the Pad Thai Combo whilst I went for the Asian Duck salad. Both dishes were masterpieces were in true Asian style flavour. High praise indeed from people who have spent years living in Penang often find Australian Asian flavours insipid not truly reflective of Asia. The Pad Thai was huge, full of fresh bean shoots, pieces of egg, flat rice noodles, peanuts, coriander, cabbage large pieces of chicken prawn, served with chilli sauce. A feast for the eyes as well as the mouth! The Asian Duck salad, likewise, was full of tender roasted duck slices, fresh bean shoots, cabbage, greens, pickled ginger, sliced snow peas, chilli gorgeous soba noodles smothered in a tangy dressing that almost made my eyes water. Superb almost too good to eat. Now we don’t usually go for desserts, but the Plum Frangipani pie sounded too good to miss. We shared one again, it didn’t disappoint. The soft frangipani style pie came covered with luscious stewed plums strawberries that had a hint of sourness that balanced the sweetness of the accompanying cream, ice cream pie filling. Awesome! To top of our perfect meal, we had a bottle of Heartland Director’s Cut Cabernet Sauvignon which was nicely reflective of what we have come to expect from a Langhorne Creek Red. Best reds in the country this one was no exception. An overall A experience we will put The Wine House on our list of places to visit again.
