We started w... read more A short venture down from our hotel, Fat Man Reviews stopped into Tortuga's' Lie in Nags Head, NC. Tortuga's is a seafood spot with Caribbean fare. We started with the Chips and House Made Salsa. The chips were out of a bag, but they were fresh. The salsa is puréed and thick. It has a nice taste with a peppery finish. It is at the top of mild in heat, but it could use a little salt to enhance the flavor. My fiancé had the Fish Tacos with Rice and Black Beans. This is made with flour tortillas, jack cheese, sliced cabbage, cilantro, house-made sauce, sour cream and jalapeños. The fish was light and flaky but needed a touch of salt. The slaw is creamy and adds texture. It could have used some sugar to up the flavor and help punch through the heat of the jalapeños. The rice and beans were cooked well, but they were not overly flavorful. I had the Jamaican Jerk Chicken with Rice and Black beans. This dish came with a leg and thigh(or breast), jerk seasoning and a warm pineapple chutney. The chicken was cooked perfectly, it was juicy, flavorful and the spice level was warm but not overpowering. The skin was crispy, which added a great texture to the dish. While the rice and beans were prepared and cooked well, they lacked in a ton of flavor. The chutney added sweetness to the dish. Tortuga's' offers lunch and dinner. The menu offers fresh seafood as well as several sandwiches, burgers and entrées. They have a full bar and also a couple of volleyball courts out back. The servers were nice, but the place is small, so there may be a wait. The Fat Man says that Tortuga's' Lie is Fat Man Approved with 2 chins.

Not only can you find a very well stocked bar and a kitchen that turned out some of the best plates on the Island. Grouper, flounder, crab, of course shrimp are always there in some of the best sauces on the east side of the USofA. Beach volleyball is also a hot item that is the Turtle Place. That's right outside sports are almost as popular, in a verity of different flavors, as are the delicious food and cold liquid refreshments.

They have a couple vegetarian/vegan options which is great I had the conch appetizer, founder sandwich, humus appetizer, a salad, bean burrito. Bar with some special drinks, pro games on the tv, fun atmosphere, will return if I'm in that area again.

I got the Shark attack but they were out of shark toys so I got a dolphin with the blood dripping from its mouth. Haha, watch out for those vicious dolphin attacks. We have wanted to visit this restaurant for a while now but the line has always been very long. We had our dog with us on this rainy weekend so we were excited to hear that their patio was pet friendly. They were super accommodating of us and our pup. We were able to be seated within 30 minutes.

The atmosphere is laid-back, the food is delicious, and the staff is friendly. It feels like a local favorite in the OBX. The coconut chicken accompanied by lime curry sauce, rice, and beans is absolutely amazing. Everything we sampled was top-notch, and the cocktails are wonderfully refreshing and fruity. After visiting the Outer Banks for 20 years, I can confidently say this place is among the best in the region.

We sat at the bar, and our bartender/waiter was very knowledgeable and offered outstanding service. Despite the restaurant being busy, our food arrived promptly. It's a cozy and charming little place, and they even sell some really cool T-shirts!

The host and hostess were also friendly and helpful. We shared the crab cake entrée with two crab cakes, and they were absolutely delicious! Overall, a great experience with excellent service, food, and atmosphere. Looking forward to coming back someday!

The food is incredible, from the mouthwatering white garlic pizza to the flavorful fish tacos. Be sure to finish your meal with their chocolate peanut butter pie—it’s absolutely delicious! They’ve also added a small outdoor bar, which is a brilliant addition. I enjoyed a beer and some chips and salsa while waiting for our table. Definitely a must-visit spot when you’re in OBX!
