Nanking - Nagpur

Me and my wife went to Nanking for lunch on a hot summer day (early June). The interior design of the restaurant was elegant and classy. There were not more than 4-5 tables occupied at any point of time during our lunch on a Sunday.  Soups - Chi Sour & Pepper Soup and Chi Manchow Soup : We ordered for Chicken Manchow Soup & Chicken Sour and Pepper Soup. I liked both the soups. Generally, soups in Desi Chinese fine dine restaurants are subtle (by Desi standards) in their flavor profiles. The stock is the key. The Chicken Sour & Pepper Soup does that. It had beautifully combined the sour-notes and the strongness from the pepper. I would have loved some variety in terms of texture though. Overall, I loved The Chicken Sour & Pepper Soup. Chicken Manchow soup tasted okay. The main issue with this dish was that there was too much of stuff and too less of soup. The dish had an overdose of garlic. I would have rather preferred an overdose of soya sauce than garlic, although as mentioned earlier subtlety is the key. Appetizers - Chicken Steamed Wontons : -------------------------------------------------------------- I loved the wontons. This was easily the best dish of my meal. Although it is such a simple dish, it is very easy to notice if any of the elements in the dish are off. The wrap around the filling was thin and smooth. It had a lovely flavor of egg which I really liked. The filling in the wontons were cooked spot on. The  They were not a big lump, something which I typically encounter. The filling had partly grainy mince texture bound by a succulent flavor of the chicken stock. A bite of this dish should please anyone irrespective of their mood! The dipping sauce served along with the dish tasted good. Both the wontons and the dipping sauce were served in generous quantities.  Main Course : --------------------- Fish with Red Pepper : Prior to ordering this dish, I had told the waiter that we do not eat river fish. The waiter promptly nodded and recommended this dish. After pointing out that the fish did not taste like  a salt water one and after explaining another waiter, he agreed to replace this with another dish.  Chilli Chicken : After the previous dish, we played safe and ordered Chilli Chicken. This dish was loaded with vinegar and was inedible. It tasted yuck and the very thought of this dish is still giving me the creeps. The chicken was cooked succulent but I wished the meat was slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Except for the first half bite, we left the dish as it is and did not have the energy to ask for a replacement. All in all I would go with 3 out of 5 for Nanking. I had a good experience until the mains. It is okay to be wrong but defending and pushing the blame back to the customer is not correct. Despite my wonderful experience with the wontons and the Chicken Sour and Pepper soup, the steep price and poor service ruined it.

So we decided to take a trip down the memory lane and went to nanking to have soup. We orders hot n sour soup. To my horror, the soup was thick like a Gravy and had no taste at all. It's a complete waste of money. Pathetic.

As always amazing. The best chinese that one can probably have. The place is amazing will always live up to your expectations. Wide platter, great taste, more than filling serving and always helpful stall, all that one needs for a perfect dining experience.

Horrible spicy fried rice I've ever had. Never gonna order again from this place. Wasted Rs. 314.

Poor taste, chicken was very chewy and tasted as if it is stale
