Zen Hostel And - Nagaoka

The restaurant is located in a lovely, traditional building surrounded by scenic views. It can get a bit chilly in the winter, but they provide warm blankets to keep you comfortable. The beds have curtains for privacy and are quite cozy.

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant! The staff was incredibly helpful, all of them spoke English very well and were ready to answer any questions we had. There was a small menu available at the bar, and the gyoza was delicious. The building itself had a very traditional Japanese atmosphere. It was just a short walk to the railway station and even to the foot of the snowy mountains for a picturesque walk through the unique city. Everything was very clean as well. My only complaint is that it was quite cold in the hallways and not many people were hanging out there. But still, I highly recommend booking a table here!

This restaurant is conveniently located near the train station and has excellent heating for the chilly winter months. The beds have curtains for privacy and the lounge area is spacious. I had a wonderful time here during my solo trip and it was definitely one of the highlights of my time in Japan.

We came for a few days at the beginning of a fairytale and this opposite was a very special highlight of our trip! Maybe it was outside the season, but it felt like we had the whole place for ourselves. the staff was friendly and helpful. overall the picturesque and peaceful atmosphere of the opposite was really good with my small town heart compared to the hectic of the metro areas of tokio.

Wonderful place with amazing staff, I highly recommend. I checked-in around 3pm and then asked how I could get to the Monkey Park. They told me since it's late in the year, it would close around 4:00-4:30pm and I wouldn't make it. So they offered me a ride over, and I couldn't thank them enough. The staff spoke English very well, and the location of the hostel is just a few minutes walk from the station. All the standard amenities exist, rooms are spacious, etc. Overall a good experience.
