incredibly great stay. thanks again. so much history to take in. it raslly feels like a different time. many many celebrities already stayed here. agstha christie, j.k. rowling, j.p. sartre, heinrich schliemann and the list goes on and on. the host and owner was very kind and helpful. the place is so very down to earth, we absolutely loved it. What Kristin Hontzek doesn't like about Belle Helene:
Even the one star I only give because I have to.There was no card, available dishes were just scattered. There was only one more whirlpool, though we wanted two. This was then unambiguously communicated to us, and there were no alternatives. Then we were yelled, if we didn't like it, we should cancel the order. When we did this after 30 seconds, we were screamed again, the pommes are already in the frituse, what to d... View all feedback.
All of the food was cold, ice cold, the kin of dry bread was the best part. The glasses were clearly used, and the pepper and salt was rusted and moldy.
Coffee with a toss. At least good coffee in three weeks Greece.
Hotel restaurant where time stopped. We came back from mycene and stopped there. We were the only ones to eat on a large terrace. Not many tourists because of the covid. The boss, who is also a waiter and cook, is very friendly and speaks very well French. We took a Greek salad, chicken and pork brochettes for children, served with fries and tomato eggplants. Everything was very good with fresh products.Prices were not indicated on panel 39€ for 4 for a single dish per person, it is a little expensive. It's the only flat.
Avoid at all costs. Back house, not visible from street, of some interest from the 50s. Then they stuck to it a concrete monstrosity in the 70s. Looks old and tired. Tablecloths bleached by the sun. Stopped briefly with the family as we had some familiarity with the house from one of the archeological expeditions from the 50s. As we were getting ready to get an ice cream and coffee, we tried to peep a look at the old house. The owner started banging the windows and came out to verbally attack us as trespassers. I told him there was no need to be aggressive and he told me I was weird. So in the middle of Covid-19, with tourist traffic to Mycenae down by 80%, is this the way to attract customers? There are much better ways to address people. How about may I help you with something? . The owner was rude in both English and Greek, so at least he was consistent.By all means visit the archeological site which totally merits your time and money. Places like Belle Helene, with its rude owner who are out to catch the innocent tourist, should be confounded to oblivion.Schliemann and all other archeologists made history by excavating up the hill in Mycenae, not by staying there.
Old town, with a lot of history. The very good food, tasty and prepared cuisine at the moment, very good quantity in the dishes and at good price. Very friendly staff. We had not read many reviews of this site and decided to have our own experience and it was quite a success.
