We’ve made Steakhouse Five our go-to spot for date nights, and we always request Jason as our server. He is fantastic—attentive and truly one of the best servers at the restaurant. He consistently enhances our dining experience with outstanding customer service! If you’re new to Steakhouse Five, I highly recommend trying it out. The food is delicious, especially the pork chop! And be sure to ask for Jason!
First time there. Treated a friend, who was visiting from another state, for his birthday. First, the atmosphere was surprisingly bright and open, not what I’d expected for a high-end steak place. More of a “diner” feel than a steakhouse. We had reservations and were seated promptly on arrival. Service was good, informative, and attentive. We started with appetizers, shrimp cocktail and “grilled simply pure sweets sourdough” (which was nothing more than a small loaf of sliced sourdough…something usually complimentary at most steakhouses). The bread was not particularly fresh and the crust was exceptionally hard. The shrimp cocktail was “deconstructed” (a few boiled shrimp tossed about a plate with some greens) unnecessarily, but delivered the expected standard flavors. We each had a shot from the whiskey menu, which was a nice treat. A little disappointed they were out of the Stagg Jr, which showed on the online menu, but we were able to make a suitable substitution. We each ordered entrees, filet with baked potato and horseradish cream sauce and NY strip with brussel sprouts and horseradish cream sauce. He was satisfied with his filet but noted it was not exceptional relative to flavor or preparation. My strip steak was much the same: adequate but nothing special. Also, I realized well into the meal that I’d been given the wrong sauce, but carried on anyway. What they gave me was tasty enough. Both our sides were much the same…pretty average. We also had dessert. He chose the chocolate crème brûlée and I had the “upside stone fruit cake”. He was complimentary of his dessert, and it did look amazing. Mine…meh. A slice of grocery store pound cake with some jam would have probably been more satisfying. In the end, I feel like this place is trying to be something it is not. For the price, the food and atmosphere are lacking. Dropping 4 Benjamins for two dinners, I was expecting an “experience” I did not receive. I’m afraid this’ll be one-and-done for me.
