El Barrio Restaurant Lounge - Mundelein

This was my first time here I thought the food was decent the 1 lbs of skirt steak 45 bucks nothing special and rice and beans on the side meat needed more flavor 3/5. We were also recommended a shrimp dish with garlic cilantro 4/5, Chipotle sauce shrimpthat was ok as well 4/5. Overall the staff and owners are great the treat you like family. Enchiladas of mole 5/5

Just found this amazing hidden gem. Best Mexican restaurant I?ve ever been to. Amazing service! Great hospitality. Everyone is so nice here- Norma, our server was incredibly helpful with dinner selection. She is the best! The food is phenomenal and thedrinks were perfect! We will be coming here a lot more!!

ELBARRIO is one of the few consistently authentic Mexican restaurants...been a fan since 1980! Great staff, (ask for Sarah), owned by a wonderful family that makes everyone feel at home!

Very expensive for what it is. $45 for Steak Fajitas?? Outrages in comparison to other local family owned Mexican restaurants. Food just ok.. dinner for 2 Steak Taco dinner and a Enchilada dinner w 2 beers $80!!!

If you are looking for an authentic tex-mex cuisine and a margarita look no further! I have tried all over lake county and have not been able to find any better... the staff is great and friendly and gives the family vibes you are looking for. They have also added Wednesday night Loteria which I will be back to play again with some happy hour specials! Definitely on my top 5 list of restaurants to patron.
