Contribute Feedback What Sina Moritz doesn't like about Taj:
With all the competition in this part of Munich (Schwabing/Max-Vorstadt) from many good and some excellent Indian restaurants, TAJ would have to offer something special. It doesn't. "Mediocre" is a fair description. View all feedback.
Me, my family and a friend had lunch yesterday in this Indian restaurant and we enjoyed good food and excellent sunny weather. We took a table outside and ordered some three dishes- one in the very hot oven - some chicken with spinach. One vegetarian- Chana Masala - my favorite one - chic peas with tomato sauce. And one Lamm Masala - i've eaten better ones, but this one was ok - just sauce was a bit too watery. We got some starter from the house and several sauces to try- also not the best i've seen, but a nice gesture. The waiters came several times after the dishes were served and asked if all ok? They were very friendly all the time - even when my daughter splashed one of the glasses with mango juice over the table. The prices were pretty ok - normal for the city and the area would say.So all in all i can recommend this restaurant- rather for the very good service than for the food itself. I've seen they offer lunch menu from 11:30 till 14-15 o'clock. And the prices are very different than those during normal working hours- i think is a great option to try out the restaurant if interested.
We moved to Munich at the beginning of April, and one of our barometers of an "international' city is the quality of its Indian restaurants. Taj is one of the first three we tried, and one of two within two blocks of our new apartment. It has quickly become a go-to place. The owners and server are friendly, the ambiance is nice, and the food is excellent. Their mint chutney is spicy and fresh--probably the best I've had anywhere. My favorite dish at any Indian restaurant is butter chicken. This is the only place I've had it where you can see butter pooling in the dish when they put it on the table. Perfection! They are open every day, accept cards, and also have sidewalk seating. You should go.
Unfortunately this is only average Indian food and it seems that locals are aware of this. I had dinner there on a Friday evening and the place was nearly empty. Starter was okay, Lamb Vindaloo was better (at least to the right spice), but I had that better elsewhere. At least the one guy in service was attentive and friendly
Loved the food. Paneer Tikka Masala, Dal Makhani, Chilli naan, roti and raita. The service was quick and the staff are very friendly. We enjoyed our meal after a very long day.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. We ordered food twice in a week. First time the food didn't arrive and we had to cancel the order.2nd time we gave several calls before we could see the delivery guy coming to our place. The person who is taking order at their give number is too arrrogant to reply in an understandable language. If you speak in English he replies in German, if you ask him to speak in English he refuses and speaks in Hindi. And he didn't even understand the order we gave. The delivery guy is an air headed man. He came 40 minutes late. We asked for delivery at office, he didn't come to the office and asked us to collect it from the road. When we tried to seek some good response on the delay he literally started shouting and making scene on the road.
