As cozy as an Irish pub can get, the bartender was a lovely human being and oh my does she give great advice when you're inebriated but craving life advice and a cold beer. Oh yeah, and great selection of more than 10 on tap. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about O'malley's Sports Pub:
I can see why younger people might enjoy this place, especially with its dipping bar, but for me, the limited wine selection, the 80s sub-pop music, and a leaky seal made the experience less than satisfactory. View all feedback.
I usually love this spot. But it's the last time I go there on a Sunday. Place is not busy at all and I was straight up ignored by the female bartender. Waited 10 min and left without her making eye contact. There was literally 3 other people at the bar. WTF?
This review is difficult to write because I have been coming to O 'Malley 's sports pub for years. The food is great. The bartenders are awesome and create a great ambiance for individuals to feel welcome and wanted. Unfortunately, ownership is terrible. This is not the first time the owner has made racist comments. This past weekend (1/14/23), for the Niner wildcard game, I was sitting at the bar with the owner and a really good friend. Everything was fine until it wasn 't. Half an hour after the game, the owner is beyond inebriated We had been talking back and forth about the game, and his friend, who had not been there prior, had arrived. I asked a question about how the bar had been running and how business was going. For context, I am a black man. He responded, he wished other black people would stop coming to his bar. When my friend confronted him, he told him, he was making a joke. That is not a joke you make to anyone. I am incredibly hurt and conflicted by this comment. I encourage people of color and those that believe in equality to stop going to O ' Malleys Sports pub until they are under new ownership.
As a fan of dive and neighborhood bars, I've been here a few times. Great local bar, reasonable prices and friendly staff. Gets lively for games as well. Check it out!
Wow, what a really nice dive bar in Palo Alto. I was able to watch the 49ers versus Seahawks. Lots of adrenaline food truck provides really good food at a reasonable cost.Good drinks, including a great selection of beers, including IPABell (Isabel) is an EXCELLENT bartender! Say hi to her
Let me begin this review with getting straight to the point. The older gentleman who owns this establishment is openly racist. Last Saturday, 01/14/2023 my friend (who is African American) and I were watching the 49er 's win the first Wild Card round as the owner of O 'Malleys sat next to us.During the course of celebrating the win, the owner was making small talk with my friend when he said I like you but I wish black people wouldn 't come to my bar. The audacity that this man has to make such an inappropriate and discriminatory comment as an owner of a business establishment that serves the public is nothing short of disgusting. How could he possibly think he could get away with saying that let alone to a person of color?! To the owner of the bar: I promise to take this review down if you can prove to the public that you are reformed by releasing a public apology or by educating yourself on black history. Today is Martin Luther King jr. Day after all. Final words for thought: I know you thought this was a joke and you are blind to what you said. However, your poor choice of words had real repercussions and understandably so. I wish we lived in an egalitarian world where all people were treated equally. Your words were filled with hate and prejudiced negativity towards those of color.
