The meal was excellent, just like always. However, the table setting could use some improvement, as they placed two dessert forks at each setting instead of one.
We booked a table for lunch with friends. We'd eaten at Cascal often over several years, and my husband's garlic allergy had always been well taken care of. Today we checked in, to find that there were only two dishes that could be prepared without garlic ‐ tuna tartare, and stuffed dates. Our waiter was helpful, but as my husband doesn't like raw fish, he chose stuffed dates. It really didn't work alone as a main course. To make matters worse, we got a rude email later taking us to task for being no‐shows. Don't worry Cascal, we won't be troubling you ever again, nor will our friends.
We went around 5:30 PM and were able to get seated for Happy Hour. They have some good food and drink options. The drinks were great; I ordered some fruity ones, so they weren’t particularly strong but were delicious. We tried both the short ribs and fish tacos; they were okay, not bad for Happy Hour, but I’ve had better. The liver crostini was good. The paella (not on the Happy Hour menu) was absolutely the best. I’ll go back for more Happy Hour.
Bread olive oil came as soon as it arrived while I was still reading the menu. Goat cheese looked like moldy meatloaf but it actually didn’t smell terrible. It tasted like mild cheese. It was also good to eat alone with the accompanying salad and seafood stew. The small rice is bigger than the face, so it is suitable for everyone to share. The fried potato meat balls are quite delicious, crispy on the outside and a little fluid on the inside. The sherry wine is not sweet and has a strong fragrance. It is smooth to drink. The octopus feet are great and pickled. Tuna is special and delicious.
Went here for a family gathering and the place did not disappoint. All the dishes were great, our servers were very attentive. Live music on a Friday night. We had a small non pleasant interaction with a small group of diners but that was not the restaurant’s fault. They wanted a “quiet” atmosphere ??…should’ve stayed home.

Whenever we visit this restaurant, it never fails to amaze us! The menu is constantly changing so there’s always something new to try, and everything we’ve tasted has been absolutely delicious.
Great food. Nice outside… inside very noisy! A perfect spot before Theatreworks.

Excellent Upscale Latin American Tapas Restaurant with an emphasis on extremely well prepared and delicious small plates with a Latin theme. Excellent margaritas, sangria, and wines. Absolutely recommended if you’re looking for high quality food with a slightly higher price point. The ambience is wonderful, with salsa music playing in the background and plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. The restaurant is well kept, plenty of space, and the inside has wonderful decorations. The service here is excellent and fast. Especially if you come here on off hours. We barely waited at all to be served! The food came out minutes after we ordered it. One of best restaurants in Mountain View and possibly the entire South Bay Area.
Went here with my family for my birthday! The food was delicious and quickly eaten by the 5 of us. The spices and seasoning as wonderful in all the dishes we had. One thing I would say is that the larger sized paella was surprisingly still small and rather difficult to share with 5 adults. We still left happy and would come for more!
Overall a great experience and well worth. Amazing food and unique dishes, surprisingly quick service, and a nice atmosphere. Would recommend for anyone wanting to try out a unique take on tapas. Paella was top notch as well!
We had a wonderful experience with friends. Tried the Seafood Paella and ceviche sampler and it did not disappoint. Red sangria and Mojito to drink and chocolate souffle with coffee ice cream for dessert. Everything was fantastic. The atmosphere was great with live guitar and excellent service. Definitely worth it.
Tried all new items that I have never had here before and was not disappointed! The seasonal sangria was wonderfully fruity and fresh. The Potato Gratin was creamy and the cheese on top was deliciously gooey and crisp. The Muscles in Saffron Cream Sauce had the perfect bite of rich cream, with the fresh muscle and just the right amount of acid from the tomato and onions. Every bite was delicious! As always the service was friendly and professional, and the outdoor patio was the perfect setting for our evening out.

Remember that scene from the mask of Zorro, where Catherine Zeta-Jones and Antonio Bandaras are tangoing acors the room and there is that music playing in the background and all in the rest of the movie it sounds that mood that seems dangerous but romantic all at once?... Well, you'll find no danger (can be romance? in Cascal, but every Friday night they have a live band that defined. This would be an ideal place to bring a date, but it is not so posh and beautiful that you cannot come to jeans with a group of friends, order a pitcher from Sangria and sit under one of the many heat lamps that do the outdoor dining areas. I have some hits and misses with this restaurant regarding food, but the ambience is always great – lively, noisy, this place is a good way to not feel in Mountain View though you are really... just don't order the spain tapas cellar. It is beautiful and if you see a waiter who crosses with a plate, you will be tempted, but while there is an eye candy-looking dish the individual components of the plate are either too mad or strange sweet. You are better not to order what sounds good for you on the tapas menu or try one of the other samplers. Tapas restaurants are usually a little more expensive. Do not try to choose this place if you haven't eaten all day, they really try to focus more on quality than quantity.
I was only once in Cascal and the one plate I really remember is her fried Calamari. I tend to order fried Calamari when I see it on a menu, and Cascals was excellent....perfect fried and a good size (especially for a tapas square). The rest of the food was good... although expensive, as most tapas are places. And I think I'm hungry.
I am vegetarian and was very pleasantly surprised to find that they fulfill us herbivores. The mushrooms were delicious and the Spanish frits were very good! The spicy salsa complements the frits and adds another layer of complexity and taste. I found her Sangria a little watered, but the food is totally ready for it! I think this place is much better than Zarzuella in SF, which has received a lot of awards for the food and its delicious Sangria!
This is a good place to go to if you are with a group that likes to try almost everything in the menu. The dishes were very flavorful and very nicely presented. The mushroom empanadas are definitely something to try. The dungeness crab and shrimp tostaditos were also very good; the veggies that came with it was fresh and crisp. We also tried the paella rustica—it was very rich. Good but I was a little overwhelmed by the variety of meats. The restaurant was very nicely decorated, not too dimly lit. Their sangria was okay—I noticed on the menu that they have a choice of red, white or sparkling but the server didnt ask us for preference.

Great ambience .. Weekend live music was a plus! They have both inside and door seats. Outdoor has a lot of warmth to keep you warm! Food: ...
Tapas platter was wonderful. Appetizers and drinks were great! They also had a live band where it was pretty cool. Service was pretty good, tired...
Our dinner began with the delicious complimentary bread with a cilantro pesto dip. My husband and I shared the eggplant tian which had an amazing combination of flavors in the tomato sauce and topping of manchego cheese. Our main course was the small sized paella Cascal which had seafood and meats. The paella was delicious! It had a slightly smoky flavor and the rice was prepared perfectly in tenderness and seasoning. The shrimp and meats were very good, however- it was disappointing that the mussels and clams on the dish were very tiny and dry. Next time, we will try the paella rustica will all meats. The portion of the small paella was perfect for two people to share; we had some leftover because we had the eggplant first. We just couldn’t resist ordering dessert. Choosing a dessert was difficult, but we decided on the Basque cheesecake because it was a unique offering; and we weren’t sorry. The piece of cheesecake was perfect for sharing…and oh was it creamy with delightful caramel flavoring with whipped cream garnish. Our table was near the kitchen and our initial server was not very helpful in assisting us when ordering. However, another server/maybe manager came over to us after our initial order to check on us and make recommendations for dessert and our next visit. My husband and I enjoyed the live music and salsa dancing.
Tbh, I would probably give them a 3.5 star rating. Our waiter was friendly and accomodating for the most part, but when I was for hot sauce the...
