Description

Nestled in the heart of Dinner Plain, the Dinner Plain Hotel offers a varied experience, leaving many patrons with conflicting impressions. While some readers praised its cozy ambiance, friendly staff, and satisfying pub fare—a perfect remedy after snow activities—others reported severe shortcomings, including disorganized service and rude management. Complaints highlighted frustrating booking experiences and underwhelming food quality compared to other nearby venues. Despite the challenges, particularly during peak seasons, the hotel retains potential with its inviting decor and expansive space. If you're up at Mount Hotham, this bar/pub is worth a check-in, if not just for a warm place to get out of the snow for a minute or 10. Prices are higher

Dropped in for a quick drink just after we arrived about 6pm. Beer was really good. Staff were friendly. But ... the music was too loud, especially considering we were the only people in there. We came back later that night for a meal which was pretty good and the music was not nearly as loud, so maybe they just weren't expecting anybody during the day when we first dropped in for a drink

Visited with a fairly large group of 15 withoit booking for dinner (The General at Hotham was closed on Sunday a bit bizarre! so a bit of pressure was on the kitchen I suppose. $10 for a glass of house wine was passed over for water. From a very limited pub menu, this couple we managed to spend $80 for 2 mains (which were at best tolerable and 1 beer. Should have gone to the High Plains about 100 meters away. A better menu and cheaper drinks in better surroundings. Wont be back.
