Description

Fez, a once beloved restaurant known for its genuine Middle-Eastern cuisine, has unfortunately undergone changes in ownership that have affected the quality of the food. Despite now being owned and run by a friendly Malawian woman, the menu has shifted towards Chinese-Malaysian flavors, leaving patrons longing for authentic Moroccan dishes. The decor is starting to show signs of wear, making some hesitant to return. However, the service has remained consistently friendly and attentive, with some customers even being offered blankets for extra warmth on chilly days. While some dishes may fall short of expectations, such as the disappointing sausage in the bratwurst dish, overall, the food is fresh, tasty, and well-presented. Highlights include the fritters, breakfast bruschetta, and flavorful Roasted Marinated Mushrooms. Despite minor shortcomings like the poached eggs being slightly overcooked or the need for more attentive service due to staffing issues, Fez provides a nice atmosphere for a relaxing meal. With reasonable prices and great coffee, it's a hidden gem on the Beaufort St strip that many patrons plan to visit again.

Fantastic service and food. Dined for breakfast December 2022. Service was welcoming and informative. The food was fresh, tasty and impeccably presented. We enjoyed the fritters and breakfast bruschetta. Coffee was hot and well made. 10/10 would highly recommend and will dine again.

We were staying in Mount Lawley and found Fez in the Entertainment Book. So glad we did! The website said under new ownership, they were absolutely delightful and were very accommodating to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Our breakfast was prompt, delicious food, great coffee including soy which is sometimes hard to do, and wonderful service. A credit to the new owners for making dining a great experience. I’m also gluten free not coeliac and there were heaps of options to choose from! Absolutely worth a visit, we will be back.

Been going there for years and still believe it’s the best (and I’ve tried many, many others) . Incredible food, fair prices, the best coffee I’ve had and great service. Just been tastefully redecorated as well. The new owners, Harry and Crystal, bend over backwards to make you welcome and ensure your complete satisfaction. Couldn’t recommend it more.

Food has always been good as is the coffee however it’s a pity about the smoking rule not being enforced outside the shop!

Fez used to be awesome with genuine Middle-Eastern food prepared in authentic fashion. Sadly having been sold on twice in past few years it’s no longer that good. Now owned run by a very friendly Malawian woman.... the food all has a distinct Chinese-Malaysian flavour and you can’t get any genuine Moroccan meals. Decor is looking tired. Won’t be going back in a hurry.
