First things first: the signs out front saying $7.90 steaks are out of date, the steaks are now $9.90. That makes me sound like a mad tightass, but in the interests of factual correctness, you know, someone has to point out these things. Maybe send a glassie out there with a Sharpie to turn the 7 into a 9 or something. And look, the steak you get for that price is damn good, it's a juicy 300g Porterhouse on a bed of mash with your choice of sauce (pepper. Always pepper. And that's available 7 days a week. There's heaps more on the menu my friends had the Atlantic salmon on a beautifully arranged bed of delicate salad and radish and a cheek of lemon. But I'm a man and I eat steak I was okay with her having this amazing looking fish. It's a pretty lively place, gets loud with younguns and oldies and everything in between. Youngies hit the $5 drink specials. Five bucks. Can't beat that to spend your Maccas wages.
A great place to grab a beer and sit out on the balcony, and people watch. The food here has improved. Typical pub style food, reasonably priced. The steak here is fantastic!
Great steak, friendly service, $10.00. Who would have thought? Definitely another visit is in the cards. Honest meal, worth going if you're in a large group with a budget. They also use quality beef.
Unfortunately for them I can put my finger firmly on what is wrong here...this place lacks atmosphere. It's inoffensive but also unexceptional. What it gets right: Really decent food affordable pub food. We're in the $5 steak territory. Upper Duck (the upstairs bar has nice lighting at night for date night. Pool table. Easy going atmosphere. No pretensions. Generally feels friendly. It's clean and tidy (setting the World on fire here! What it gets wrong: The poker machines and smokers are pretty much the first thing you see from the street. Not a good look. Sadly, it has little competition in the area and that means it feels to compete at all. Cue the sound of tumbleweed.
I've been here a few times. This is the type of place you go for a cheap pub meal alone or with a few friends. Definitely easy going atmosphere... nothing fancy at all. The food is decent. The outdoor seating area upstairs is a nice place to sit and have a few drinks. Inside (downstairs) is a little bit stuffy. The $7.90 steak is hit or miss. Go into it with mediocre expectations because it can be a tough cut, so I'd get it done rare or med-rare (they tend to overcook the steak a bit anyway). All in all, decent food and can be a fun place to come with friends for drinks and a bite.
