This restaurant is amazing! They have a full menu that is completely gluten-free, and the staff are knowledgeable about the needs of those with celiac disease. This was especially important for me as my son was recently diagnosed and we are still adjusting. My son even said it was the best meal he's ever had! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Royal:
The food quality was not worth the price of $200 plus for 4 people. The calamari was mediocre and the shrimp linguini was overcooked. The $40 steak was disappointing. Despite the great service team, it seems that corners may be cut on personnel or food quality. The venue is beautiful and the service team is attentive, but the food consistently falls short. We live on site and this hotel was a favorite. It has experienced changes in management and style, not all positive, but now we like it again. Stylish décor, small but excellent menu and one of the best examples of Mornington Architecture 19th Century.
Food atmosphere and view have always been the highlight at the Royal ????
Had to order from the bar, rather than full waiter/waitress service and the kitchen is only open until 8.30pm, but otherwise food was fantastic and the views from the veranda are beautiful, especially at sun set.
We have dined at the Royal often and always enjoyed it....staff are great ???? and food is delicious. There are a variety of dining options.....formal or casual, indoors or outside. We had lunch in the main dining room then coffee and dessert in front of the open fire at the Bar .....perfect!
The Royal’s size and quality of their meals have gone downhill. Won’t be returning which is unfortunate because it used to be one of my favourite spots in Mornington
