The Willow's Creek Vineyard is still in tact, with the same winemaker and beautiful wines, especially the chardonnay and pinot noir. The Rare Hare is the newly renovated original restaurant which is modern and open plan with bench style tables and seating. It is a little noisy so more of a fun, sharing, kind of place. The food was beautiful and service very good - but it is expensive - a couple of wines, entree and 2... View all feedback.
What Leah Bailey doesn't like about Rare Hare:
Today we decided to take a quick lunch, so we drove to rh as we have done since the opening! we were greeted by a young woman who pointed out that they did not go into (the website excuses say that do) and that. we had booked. I quickly pointed out that the last three times we email to make a booking, we never get an answer so that I have to go there, go to the hotel and ask them to book for me. this time it was a Tu... Excellent waiting staff, going the marque and attention to details, well exaggerated eating, exceptional quality and great portions wise, can not wait to go back
Today we decided to take a quick lunch, so we drove to rh as we have done since the opening! we were greeted by a young woman who pointed out that they did not go into (the website excuses say that do) and that. we had booked. I quickly pointed out that the last three times we email to make a booking, we never get an answer so that I have to go there, go to the hotel and ask them to book for me. this time it was a Tuesday to think that we were in order, but instead turned away because they expected the next wave (sitting) to arrive. we love eating and in general the personal was brilliant but not today. regular and local to turn away as both the restaurant and the marque were empty, was not a good look!
My husband and I were given a voucher to the Jackalope group and decided to use it at Rare Hare wow, so glad we did! Warm friendly welcome. Interesting setup with shared tables which was fantastic. Each table is long and whilst it's shared...you are well spaced away from others. My husband and I shared everything which I'd highly recommend a great way to taste lots of things. Here's what we had: Salumi selection Potato Bread and Olive Oil Kingfish Ceviche with avocado, blood orange and chilli yum Wood roasted stone fruit with stracciatella, radicchio and pecans this was the most amazing dish just wonderful combination of flavours and so tasty Lamb shoulder, cumin yoghurt, pickled cucumber and tomato vinaigrette perfectly cooked and great quality meat Fries Choc chip cookie the only disappointing dish of the night quite tasteless Cheese selection. than enough food we had such full and happy bellies. Drinks were well priced. And service, our waiter, Elliott was excellent relaxed, attentive and engaging. A wonderful evening !
We had an unfortunate experience today at Rare Hare. We come frequently to Rare Hare and have been able to get dessert outside (currently they only serve food inside which is disappointing due to the loud noise inside). Today, the waitress informed us that...there was no way we were getting dessert outside. I was surprised due to my past experiences, but we just got a drink outside. Half an hour later, we see a couple sit down next to us and get dessert. We were very disappointed by the service and are unlikely to return due to this.
Several months ago we booked a table for for lunch. When we arrived, we were seated at a very nice table with a lovely view over the vineyard. A few minutes later, however, a large and incredibly noisy group of tipsy/drunk women arrived, perhaps...for a hen’s lunch. They were shrieking and squealing, shouting at each other, and it was impossible to hear. The two children in our party were covering their ears. The adults at our table needed to shout to be almost heard. Other tables were clearly frustrated at the noise as well. The staff member agreed it was a problem and offered to move us to a bar table in a dark corner of the dining area where we could sit on stools. We declined. Then their response was “sorry, we’re fully booked”. So we left. Big fail by Rare Hare. First, they should have had the good sense to seat a pre-wedding party of approximately people in a private area. Failing that, they should have asked the party to quieten down so as not to spoil the experience for others. Last, they could have made a meaningful offer to us to sit somewhere else that was equivalent and comfortable. #fail.
