This charming café was a delightful find in an area with few dining options. Initially, I was the only diner on a Sunday evening at 6 pm, but soon a large group of 14 people and other guests arrived, so I recommend making a reservation in advance, especially for larger parties. I ordered the "katsu style" plate which included fried meat with pickles, a small salad, and mashed potatoes. While I enjoyed the fresh veggies and seasoning on the salad, the fried meat lacked flavor and the sauce didn't quite make up for it. Despite this, I appreciated the attention to detail in the presentation and especially loved the frozen flowers in my drink. I will definitely return when I'm in the area near Lake Biwa.

They are environmentally conscious by not using plastic straws and offer take-out options. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 11am to 9pm, they are closed on Mondays and the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month. Limited English is spoken. (Update: This cafe remains my favorite in Japan.)

While I haven't confirmed this 100%, my Japanese colleague mentioned it to me. It's even better that they don't use plastic straws and have alternative options available. The restaurant is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11am to 9pm, with the exception of the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month when they are closed. Please note that the menu is only available in English.
