We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at the windmill before heading back to Virginia. The service was fast and efficient, and our meals were ready in no time. I highly recommend this place if you're craving some comforting home-cooked food. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Windmill Family:
I had the chicken breast sandwich and ended up with food poisoning and was sick for 3 days afterwards. My symptoms started shortly after I had left there. The wait staff were on their phones, talking smack about other employees and some even cussing. Behind the house is where the cussing should be I mean there were elderly folks and younger children there. I tried it out due to being told it was under new management... View all feedback.
Great food and our server, Amanda, was phenomenal! Update: Amber was our server tonight and she was great! Very friendly and just the right amount of attention. But the clams were disappointing. I grew up on the coast of New England, so I might be overly critical. Much too much bread and overcooked so that they gummy. I would expect these shells to be seen in a box at the freezer aisle in the grocery store, not a restaurant!

Behind the house is where the cussing should be I mean there were elderly folks and younger children there. I tried it out due to being told it was under new management and I'm pretty certain it was changed a couple times already. I wouldn't recommend their food and their service was horrible as well. I know good employees are hard to find but bad wait staff will put you under faster than you know it. You might have the best food around but with bad customer service you're done! Please be careful if you get anything poultry here!
This is the first time I have ever been there. The onion rings are really good. I had also ordered the chicken fingers and they were really good. I had the cherry pie and ice cream for dessert. The ice cream tasted like it was homemade.
Service was great. Our server, hostess, and everyone else was attentive and very kind. Food was pretty good- burgers are juicy, soup was tasty, family liked the slaw, breakfast solid too. Fries were thick and not very crispy. Gravy, both chicken and brown, was not good and tasted of premixed powder gravy so beware of that. Pies were not homemade, weren't great.. Cute small town atmosphere, I would bring the family, just don't expect gourmet cooking obviously. Photos attached are the remnants of the pork cutlet meal, the pecan and coconut cream pie.
Wow, had some great service here. It?s rare these days to get a good server to be honest or maybe it?s just our luck. We visited for a late lunch early dinner yesterday on a Saturday and it was pretty empty. Our waitress was great, friendly, and very quick. I believe her name was Hope (blue/purple hair, which by the way I love! Customer service is key these days and she showed that. I would return again just for that, but not only for that as the french onion soup was amazing. I also got the crab melt but wasn?t a huge fan only because I don?t like crab cakes but I did enjoy it. I can?t recall the last time I enjoyed a crab cake so bonus points on that. Will definitely return!
