The first time here today and I'm so glad we tried it here! It is a hole in the wall so to speak, but the food is very, very good. Very authentic. The service is excellent! Everyone who served food on the ground checked for us. Very nice people, too. It was busy, but it was worth it. It is also a market and meat market. It's a little expensive, but it's worth it. What Jackie D doesn't like about Mi Pais Carniceria:
Tamales not always available. Chicken Chimichanga was okay. I felt like it needed something, but couldn't quite put my finger on what was missing. Cilantro would have been nice on top. Tomato on salad not ripe, a little disappointing, but not a deal breaker. My partner got tacos, and they are far from what he's used too. Nice experience, but no need to return. View all feedback.
Honestly this is easily the best latin-american food I've ever had. Mi Pais is truly a hidden gem and a special place in Morganton!
Food was terrible and had a bad odor. My steak was dry and hard. My friends chicken was burned. The salsa is in a self serv bar which is not sanitary. Sinks dirty with water in the bathroom floor. Price is too high to contend with this.
I ordered chicken tacos and al pastor tacos, both were really good, al pastor are to die for! I bit pricey tho. Service was 5 stars: quick, kind and polite.
I 'd give the restaurant itself 4 stars, and the meat market 5. The food is filling and tasty, just wary about the restaurant 's cleanliness. The fresh market is incredible with all sorts of shellfish and meats at fair prices. The music became repetitive and unpleasant, having to listen to la marimba for over an hour when my party was there. Overall, I really enjoy this business.
The food is great, the service is good and fast, but the cleanliness leaves something to be desired, that's where the establishment should improve.
