Essendon Football Club has traditionally been one of the AFL's top clubs, but due to a drug-related scandal it has fallen on hard times. Even so, Essenon has many fans in Victoria and all over Australia, who often count a trip to Windy Hill as the highlight of their trip to Melbourne. Windy Hill, Essendon's spiritual home, has a good dining room which I can personally recommend, as I have been there several times. New members are welcome and interstate visitors are usually given a tour of the club's long-time home ground. I can also recommend Windy Hill\ for functions.
A dozen of us had to fill in time from nearby wedding until the reception so tried Windy Hill. Plenty of seats good choice of drinks, plenty of sports on TV. Pokies and other gaming available. Well run venue with good service
Many people with fond memories still dine at the Windy Hill, despite the fact that the Bombers have relocated their education and administration headquarters near Melbourne Airport. The meals are generously sized and delicious. Club merchandise is available for purchase for those who are passionate supporters, and visitors are also welcome. Conveniently, the Windy Hill is just a short walk from the Essendon train station.
16 of us 10 are vegetarian. I asked the restaurant before, whether there are still a few vegetarian options that they were fantastic. even a special menu with the extra printed veg options. everyone was delighted to appreciate that they were among them. as usual, the meals were very generously delicious. the plant-based burger was delicious! thank you. windy hill .go bombers :
I came here with a group of 10 friends who regularly meet in the Essendon Moonee Ponds area. If you are looking for large portion sizes, then this is the place to go. Even as someone who eats a lot, I found the portion sizes to be extremely generous. However, the prices are on the higher side, as my three lamb skewers with chips and a small salad cost around $27. My friends also enjoyed their meals, but some couldn't finish everything. The senior menu is very good and with only 15 months until I qualify, I may opt for the smaller portion sizes. The option of a fixed price menu with choices for dessert and entrees would be more tempting. The service was friendly and efficient, with plates being cleared as soon as we finished. They also have pokies and a luck side of the venue. Note: wheelchair accessible, disabled accessible, child-friendly, and reasonable parking available.
