Ruddy Duck Tavern - Morehead City

Best part of meal was no wait at 5:45 PM on a Thursday. It took a good 10 minutes to get our drink orders in. Once ordered they came quickly. Service was mediocre at best. Appetizers were a mixed lot. The fish bites were delicious the chips and salsa just okay. The the crab dip was very fishy, the bruschetta was tasty. The entrees were pretty bad. The pecan crusted flounder was over cooked and the crust tasted like burnt flour. The Jumbo seafood plater was bland, just tasteless. The mahi mahi was sitting in oil and extremely dry...over cooked. The burgers and salads were good. So if you are looking for seafood find somewhere else, abuser or salad would be okay.

Ate an early (before 6pm) dinner on April 29th. Food was good. Service was good. Only 2 areas need work. If they are out of a menu item, please post up front on board so customers will be prepared when they order. And have server tell table immediately. Second thing is the bar. My very small friend who is not a drinker got a peach daiquiri and drank on an empty stomach. Should have felt the affects of drink, but did not. When we told server she only told us how much alcohol goes in that drink. I tasted drink. I think bartender forgot alcohol all together. So my friend paid full price for a virgin drink. Been there in the past and never had a bar problem.

Excellent food and service. Jalapeno hush puppies are a great appetizer and if you can try to get a seat outside. Try to eat here every time I visit the area.
