I visited this restaurant after a few years and decided to give it another try. Unfortunately, I was not impressed during this visit. I ordered the squid and a burger, but found them to be nothing special. I would probably skip this place next time. I considered trying something else, but thought it was a bit pricey. If I had tried something else and been disappointed, I would have given it a lower rating.
Lovely restaurant, cosy and friendly, good banter with the staff. Would recommend.
I visited Elgin for 5 nights and dined at this restaurant on 3 of them. It is a great pub/restaurant with very friendly staff. Every meal we had was delicious, with the salt and pepper squid being a standout. We also enjoyed dishes such as langoustines, sea trout, monkfish, and venison - all of which were excellent. The atmosphere was pleasant and the staff were fantastic.
Be sure to make a reservation to ensure you can secure a table! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and drinks at this restaurant.
I booked the drouthy on Friday the 1st of December for my birthday meal with family. I booked a table for 9 people, arrived at half 7 to find we had 2 seperate tables which I really wish they had told me as it split the company and I would’ve booked elsewhere to accommodate the larger party. We were seated next to an extremely loud Christmas party where a few folk couldint obviously handle their wine, I appreciate they are on their night out but save the hysterics for the pub! Had to shout across the table to get a conversation the whole night which wasint ideal. Anyways I ordered the fish and chips which i usually get because it’s a fantastic dish. However when it came the portion size was a joke, my girlfriend was there a week back and the difference was incredible! I’ll post the photos of the difference down below. Paying 18 pound for fish and chips and getting half a portion is ridiculous. The batter on the fish was poor and the chips certainly weren’t triple cooked. So dissapointing as I love the drouthy and have been many times. Unfortunately I won’t be back again.
