What Amber N doesn't like about Altony's Italian Cafe And Wine:
Really poor food and service. My mom got a completely different sandwich than she ordered. My lasagna was burnt and soggy, it couldn't be eaten after I had a bite that tasted spoiled. No bread served with meal as stated. Service was yikes to say the least. Shocked this place is still open. Needs immediate attention from the health department. View all feedback.
The food and service were extremely disappointing. My mom received a different sandwich than what she ordered, and my lasagna was burnt and soggy—not edible after just one bite, which tasted spoiled. To top it off, no bread was served with our meal as promised. The service was lacking, to say the least. I'm honestly shocked that this place is still in business. It clearly needs urgent intervention from the health department.
Fantastic service with friendly staff, and the portion sizes are impressive. The menu offers a manageable variety, making it easy to make selections. The drinks are also excellent. It's a family-friendly spot, especially since kids eat for free on Sundays. Their daily specials are delightful too. I can’t wait to return! A bonus is that if you don't finish your meal, you’ll have leftovers to enjoy for a couple more meals.
I want to start by sharing that my birthday is on May 24th, which usually falls on Memorial Day weekend. I had previously visited this restaurant and had a fantastic experience before the ownership change, which I believe occurred in late 2022. In 2022, my partner took me there, and it was a lovely time with good reviews. Now, let me share my latest experience. We visited on May 25th, 2024, during Memorial Day weekend. There was a sign on the door announcing a special Memorial Day weekend menu featuring only two items: Lasagna and Homemade Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo. Since it was around noon, we were planning to have a party of eight and assumed that these were merely options and not the only choices available. The owner approached us and asked if we had seen the sign, which we confirmed. He then took our drink order but didn't stick around for long. At the time, it was just three of us, and after he returned to confirm that the paper outside was indeed the menu, we realized it wasn't appealing to us. We decided to wait, hoping he might check back in, but he never did. Frustrated, we left some cash on the table and exited the restaurant. While the owner was somewhat cordial, it was evident he didn't have the ability to handle a group of our size, especially since we were the only patrons there. We sat in the parking lot for about half an hour, and no one else arrived or left during that time. Unfortunately, we won't be returning until perhaps an invitation from Gordon Ramsay himself.
We ordered an amazing lasagna, salad, cheese bread, and cookie tray. It made for a wonderful holiday dinner for 12, allowing us, the hosts, to relax and enjoy the gathering! Cleanup was a breeze, and the leftovers tasted great. I highly recommend this place!
I had an awful experience with the manager. When I tried to place a phone order, he rudely hung up on me. When I went to the restaurant in person, he confronted me aggressively and even started yelling at me. This is not how you run a business, and I will never give them my business again!
