Coastal Restaurant - Mooney Mooney

The ‘risotto’ was bitterly disappointing. This was not a risotto- it was dry rice with chunks of parboiled pumpkin. Avoid this dish.

Great view, outside tables, good service but I'm afraid it was club food at top restaurant prices. I had mashed pumpkin, some green beans and a piece of barramundi but nothing to write home about, no sauce of any kind, no excitement, just like a midweek dinner at home when you can't really be bothered to make an effort.

Very good food value for money and very pleasant helpful staff and to top it all a great location !

I've been coming to this restaurant on and off for more than 30 years. Back then it was small, older, simple area in the back of what was effectively a Country pub style venue. But the food, view and service were always sensational! The larger, modernised Coastal restaurant might accommodate more people and be a bit flashier, but the reasons you go there are still the same. The food, the staff and the view! One of the best places to go for a morning drive, (take the old Pacific Highway instead of the M1) have a look around Brooklyn and then head to Mooney Club for lunch. Make sure you book in advance though, as every day is usually booked out!

Hadn’t been for years and Mooney Mooney Club ideally located to break the trip to Newcastle. Whole place is clean with a coastal decor and beautiful river views from seemingly every table. Entree salt pepper squid generous and he loved his daily specials seafood marinara. Drinks and food all reasonably priced. Book in advance as it’s popular with all age ranges. Tables can be set up for groups of all sizes. Staff all seemed happy to be at work and customers all seemed happy to be there too.
