Stopped in a nice night for sitting outside enjoy beer and pizza. My friend and I had a flight and we shared a pizza. Only one head on pizza and bagged chips were the only food offerings I noticed. But pizza and beer are one of the best marriages of life! My favorites were The Barber and Trailblazer but enjoyed all six beers. The owner, John, came to our table twice and we enjoyed the conversation. Inside seat is lim... View all feedback.
What Lisa M doesn't like about Montross Brewery Beer Garden:
The beer is good. The food is bland and outrageously expensive and ridiculously minimal. We paid $15 for a ham sandwich that has 1 1/2 thin slice of meat and another $15 for a roast beef sandwich that had the same amount of meat. So eat before you go and enjoy the beer instead. View all feedback.
Nino and Amanda are an incredible duo of dedicated professionals. Nino's homemade Croatian dishes are incredibly authentic, and I recommend them to everyone I know. Amanda expertly manages the brewery and always suggests fantastic local beers. If you're visiting the area, this is definitely the place to be!
Fantastic beer and incredible food at Chef Nino next door! Enjoy live music and a welcoming atmosphere with friendly service. I highly recommend it!
Montross Brewery is easily my new favorite spot. Everything about this establishment feels like home, from the moment you walk in until the end of the night. The beer, the people and the staff are all amazing! All of their offerings are unique and the careful crafting is obvious with every sip. And then next door in Nino's kitchen you are guaranteed to find something to satisfy your palate and fill your belly! I would be hard pressed to recall a brewery that offered a food menu that was more exciting than what Nino has brought to the table. Montross Brewery is an absolute gem in a community that desperately needs one. Stop in and let Keith pour you a cold one today!
Stopping into places like Montross Brewery makes me doubt how to approach writing reviews. Coming from a city with many options, I review places through a wide lens. Then I visit places like Montross Brewery, the only brewery in the area, with an outside perspective. I don't know their story, the surrounding culture, etc. Please keep that in mind as you read this review. 1) Beer: My wife and I shared a flight of beer, trying six of their beers on tap. I love sour beers and my wife loves stiffer beers. Most of the beers we couldn't finish. They all tasted way too hoppy and not well crafted. The shanty was tolerable for me and the apple ale for her. The rest we could have done without. 2) Food: There's a small food spot attached. We ordered tots, spinach dip, and the pizza sandwich. The tots and spinach dip were basic, lacked flavor, and were almost still frozen. The pizza sandwich wasn't bad, but over toasted. 3) Service: It was great- kind and knowledgeable. 4) Space: The inside is small, but comes with a corner filled with table games. There's a large outdoor patio in the front and back.
Just outside Montross, this spot is a crowd pleaser. A variety of beers some straight down the middle, others a complete curve ball can be sampled in a flight or with a taste before you buy. Super friendly service. Start a tab and choose your seat depending on the weather: picnic tables in the open, tables under the covered porch, or a few high tops inside. A separate business on site offers pizza, panini, and starters. Kid friendly, pet friendly. A perfect stop after wandering around GW's birthplace or the state park.
