What User doesn't like about Chez Gaston:
We stopped by the Eden Palace as it is a good few years since we last visited. As it was a gorgeous day we were very lucky to get a table on the terrace. Nice food - not superb just ordinary and sadly served without a smile. Everything would probably taste nicer if served with a smile.Very disappointed as we had made a special visit here. I don't know if that was better in the past, but the current menu has declared zero vegan options. The green two-leaf symbol shown in the menu image is only for vegetarians and their website never mentions vegan. Updated by previous rating on 2022-06-06
I was surprised because all meat dishes were so fantasies and creative, but vegan options are a typical rabbit food.... Pays a lot of money for a dish of semi-cooked vegetables.

Hard to fault the Gaston as first of all it right on the lake waterside with views you cannot fault. We got a table by the the window with what I always like .... white linen table covers.Menu seemed a bit limited but maybe designed for speed and wife and I did not struggle making our choices.Have to say my Penne Aribetta was one of the best I have had. Couldn't fault the service either which was attentive without being intrusive.This restaurant is part of a large Victorian Hotel but holds its own character.You won't be disappointed.
We went with my husband for a date dinner without kids and had a great time. The food is excellent and the service is just perfect (that is rare in Switzerland). The veal is just delicious and the lamb you should try too. I'm not a desert person but took a berry soup with yuzu ice cream that is just delicious
