The French onion soup was good. The moules frites were tasty, but the portion of fries was very small. The location is lovely and perfect for people-watching on the terrace. View all feedback.
What Dan M dislikes about Chez Eric:
If I could, I would give this restaurant no stars. The food is underwhelming and overpriced. The service is disappointing. You’re basically paying for the view here. Don’t waste your time or money here. There are much better options to choose from in Old Montreal. View all feedback.
The restaurant is a block of the main strip but worth the short walk. The staff was very friendly. My wife enjoyed her mussels and I had the veal mushroom-very good veal. The potatoes were ok. My kids had the steak and salmon-very tasty. The escargot was tasty with garlic and cheese. French onion soup was good. Caesar salad was very good-had real anchovies. Would come back. We ate outside in an enclosed patio-nice-birds chirping and quiet.
Horrible. Regret eating here, so disappointed. The food was awful, had no flavour. Would never eat here again. Salad was soggy, freezer burn fries, cardboard tasting pasta.
We had dinner at Chez Eric twice during our stay in Old Montreal. Their street front presence is very low key but once inside there is a large dining room and a quaint, quiet patio area that is private and peaceful. The service was excellent. Our waiter was charming and attentive without being invasive. The food was delicious. Definitely worth seeking out.

We took the “the table d’hôte” for our diner and that includes a soup, salad your choice of I different main course plate and dessert and only for $39.95. They have a small wine selection but great French and Italian wine. The servers are great and you can have a good conversation with them if they are not to busy. We found out that they will be moving to a bigger place next year. The restaurant will be on Place Jacques Cartier.
