Nothing to say against the food, it was very good. We had 2 different tartar (salmon and wagyu beef). Nice presentation and great food. Our only issue was that they could have turned on the A/C because it was very hot and humid inside preventing us from fully enjoying the quality of the food View all feedback.
What Estelle Lesch doesn't like about Bistro L'Aromate - Centre-Ville:
The service was a little slow, but the food was delicious though a bit expensive. Thankfully, we were staying at the hotel and were able to receive a discount on select menu items. View all feedback.
I am very glad that I could try this place during the mtl à la table. our waiter was very nice, very attentive throughout the whole meal. and every cure arrived in a timely occasion. for the entreen we ordered the mushroom cappuccino was good, although the taste of the mushroom was very pronounced. we also go the grilled otopus, which was phenomenal and the foie gras torchon, which was not good. it was very embarrassing, the brioche brot with coward had more taste than the foie gras itself. for the second cure we ordered escargot there were 6 screws on a bed of large sea salt grains. the bark wagyu carpaccio was amazing! the meat mixed with the aïoli and the pecorino rasierwerk worked perfectly together! we also have the pumpkin risotto with goat cheese. the risotto was soft and perfectly cooked. the mix of walnuts, pumpkin and comminuted goat cheese worked perfectly together. for the third cure we ordered the tuna steak on the outside nicely lined and pink and soft on the inside. the lamb shoulder was tender and the meat fell directly from the bone. we also have the seafood bouillabaisse was disappointing. it was more of seafood with a sauce than a bouillabaisse and it lacked taste. for dessert they offered a plate with a lot of desserts to taste. the one thing that I would suggest the waiter is not in the opposite side where the bathrooms are chitchatting. it makes people think there is a huge line for the bathroom if there is no. 3.5 for eating the foie gras and the seafood bouillabaisse just missed the brand. 4.5 I did not go into the washroom because I thought there was a huge line. lonely and behold, my friends told me there was no line only the waiters who cried together.
Staying in the hotel that Gustave is located in we received a 50% discount voucher for the restaurant so chose to eat here rather than venture out on a wet Saturday evening. The food was excellent although the choice was limited because of the voucher....It was very much more French European in style and quantity than many of the other restaurants we visited on our stay in Canada. The service was very good, attentive but not overly so. However even with the voucher this was one of our most expensive meals in Canada.
We were staying at the hotel and decided to take advantage of the special dinner rate for hotel guests. The choices were limited but the dishes were extremely well executed and resulted in an excellent dinner. The service was outstanding and the manager went out...of her way to make sure we were happy with the food and beverages.
On August 14, I met one of my friends for drinks at Gustave. We decided to stay for dinner. We had the arancini which were delicious; we had the cold meat platter; all the cured meats are prepared in-house and were extremely good; the marinated...calamari were scrumptious. We also tasted their homemade cocktails which were different and very tasty. Wonderful service and staff. All in all great evening
3 stars says average but that doesn’t really do Gustave’s justice it was good AND it was terrible! We eat here because we were staying at the St Martin Hotel and it promised ‘Mediterranean food’. With my wife being vegetarian this was a clincher....In fact there is NOTHING for vegetarians on the menu, which was really rather limited. We nearly walked out but the waiter offered a dish of quinoa and roast vegetables which turned out to be delicious, as was the beef pave. Well done the chef but how on earth can Gustaves claim to be ‘Mediterranean’ with such a limited offering? This is what veggies used to have to put up with 20 years ago but there’s no excuse for this today. The decor was nice and the staff were very pleasant but the background music (a Star Wars soundtrack? was intrusive in volume and style. No wonder the place was quiet the music was not a reason to come in or stay long. Overall, expensive and slightly disappointing,
