I celebrated my Birthday this past week at one of our hidden treasures. Vino Rosso is a neighborhood restaurant that is outstanding. The owner came over to our table to wish me a happy birthday ( there were a few that night.) The food is excellant ( this is not our first time here) and the waiters are very informative and friendly. Even if it is not on the menu you can ask if they can do it, chances are they will be... What User doesn't like about Vino Rosso:
This was my first visit, it was a very nice dinner. Nothing crazy, just honest food. I always ask myself why I go for Italian food because pasta is simple, and this was the case. Don't get me wrong, it was good for an Italian place. I saw many regulars so I guess I need to come back to better appreciate the chef's food. I will give them another chance to impress me. Our first time here, although we only live 5 minutes away! Just discovered and were intrigued by the menu. We certainly were not disappointed, we both could not resist the foie de veaux, although the chef prepared it to our liking with the fruits added! Appetizers were delicious, mussels were very plump and tasty. Totally enjoyable evening, with great attention to our needs by the wait staff.
If you're looking for trendy or innovative , look elsewhere. This is a classic Italian restaurant with excellent food, professional staff and a warm ambiance. Order from the table d'hote and get the mussel appetizer . You'll thank me. Soup and salad are fine but the cozze are killer . We ordered the shrimp linguini and the veal . Both great ,big portions and the veal especially well plated . Previous meals included mushroom penne and grilled chicken breast . The first was wonderfully heavy on the mushrooms. I found the chicken a little dry. This was a birthday celebration and they provided a nice piece of chocolate cake on the house . Great as was the tiramisu served in martini glasses. Prices are more then reasonable . Good selection of wine leaning towards standard Italians. Lots of large groups and families with kids early on, transitioning into more adult only later on. Can be romantic if that evening is low on kids or loud (happy) tables.
All dishes are fresh and amazing. The pasta and seafood are excellent. Also the veal and meat is tender and delicious
I attended a birthday luncheon-reception (about 50 guests) at this restaurant located on the ground floor of the Buffet Chrystal Reception Hall. It was a set menu except for the main dish where you had a choice of grilled rib steak, grilled salmon or scaloppini al marsala.I took the rib steak which was sizeable, cooked to my liking and juicy. But befoire the main dish we had: focaccia and olives as we took our seats, classic appetizer of prosciutto melone,/tomato-bocconcino/grilled eggplant-pepper-mushroom, another appetizer of fried calamari,a pasta dish of penne with tomato sauce, and a green salad After the main dish, we had dessert (Italian cake and ice cream), espresso coffee, canoli sfogliatelle as well as a selection of dry biscuits. A selection of white and red wine accompanied our meal from start to finish. Everything was as expected with regards to quality, preparation and generosity of portions. This is a true value meal. The place has windows on two sides and is bright and clean. Service is kind, courteous and efficient considering the group size and the fact that later on another group was also being served.
This is a wonderful restaurant. It blew me way… the service was fabulous…and the food was amazing. Veal, perfectly cooked was a treat….the simple gnocchi with Pomodoro sauce was rich and savoury..the best I’ve had in a long time…osso buco was special. Modest wine list was well priced and well selected. We really loved this restaurant and will be back again soon!
