Restaurant Mais - Montréal

I have gone to mais many times and it never disappoints. Always fresh alway a good atmosphere. Tacos are great and price is reasonable too. Could use a little more options on the menu, every time we have order the food quality and time it takes to get served has been great. Must try the guac and nachos.

Unfortunately for those who work in the kitchen, the service absolutely tracks all your efforts. The service is more than mediocre. If you want to drink alcohol, you can't. you will see your cocktails at the bar, you will need to hang qqn that will dignify watching you to order your consumption. No reception before 35 minutes at table. And I'm going, and I'm going. if only the restaurant was full to crack and it was less justifiable. But no, you'll get out of it completely frustrated from the service and forget what you've eaten. Don't go.

Food was of an exceptional freshness and flavour. But we found it a little expensive to eat tacos. The restaurant's atmosphere was nice, though a little noisy. Our waitress was really nice!

And it was perfect! The restaurant accommodated our group of 60 people and closed the restaurant for our group (plus one group in the smaller back room). We had a raw bar that the guests RAVED about. One guest even facebooked that there "were oysters as far as the eye could see!"The rest of the meal was served cocktail dînatoire style: tuna ceviche, pulled pork tacos, squash and pineapple tacos, etc. With a hibiscus profiterole for dessert. I received nothing but rave reviews for the entire event - from the locale to the food to the staff. All in all, great place to host a private party.

Starters were ok and the tacos were bland. The guacamole was minuscule and lacked flavour. The tortilla chips were greasy. The tartare was good but heavy handed on the chilli side. The ceviche was interesting but lacked flavour. The octopus was better but a little over cooked. The tacos were all very disappointing - dry, bland and some were both. Escondite downtown is much much better.
