Restaurant Chez Doval - Montréal

Don't waste your time and money here ,there are Much Better Portuguese chicken places to go eat... Chicken was over cooked and way too stale felt like it had sat on the side of the charcoal for a long time. Even got charged and paid for a side dish we never ordered but waiter said it comes meal ,Which we never ordered the meal we ordered separate a la carte.Hmmm doesn't make sense does it

Imagine waiting and not being seated. And seating yourself only go get nasty looks from the overly busy waiter who proceeds to ignore us for another 15 min before bringing us menus despite glancing at us at least 5 times and pouring water for adjacent tables. Bizarre! The waiter displayed a rather abrasive attitude towards us before, during and at the end of the meal. I do not recall ever having such an experience in my life. As for the food, the main dish-sardines- were well cooked. But the appetizer (cod nuggets) were COLD and partially FROZEN! Having brought to his attention at the end of the meal, there was no apology, no removal from the bill or offer of a dessert. While it’s understandable when a place is understaffed it is hard for the working staff to handle things, but this should not be cause for an abrasive attitude or bad service to a patron. Settling for the bill was another experience which we won’t get into here… patience and grace wasn’t his forte!

Came from Toronto to visit Montreal and this place blew us away. The food was amazing, the atmosphere and service was perfect. I loved the experience here! If you are in Montreal, you have to come here!

EXCELLENT PORTUGUESE FOOD!!We ordered the Roasted duck special and it was DELICIOUS!The service we received was so amazing and we will definitely be back again!!

Although I had the grilled chicken, which wasn't bad, my overall experience at the restaurant was quite disappointing due to the service provided by an older gentleman who appeared to be having a bad day. He seemed to be in a sour mood, frowning when taking my order, and even loudly expressing frustration when his machine ran out of paper, he literary shouted ‘tabarnac’.Unfortunately, while clearing the plates, he accidentally stepped over my foot without offering an apology, as if implying he could behave however he pleased. This negative encounter truly marred my experience, leaving me with no desire to return and would definitely caution others from visiting if you wish to avoid spoiling your evening.
