It is a small place at a corner in the business district. We actually tried to escape the cold and to have a warm coffee. But the salad bar made us have some food. The crab meat salad ist amazing, same for the tomato and avocado salad. Our favourite still was the kale salad. The ingredients are fresh, and of best quality. The taste is superb and not all salads are perfectly balanced. View all feedback.
What Jazmin Dare doesn't like about Mangia:
Food would have been great if it was hot. It was cold and a little dissapointing. However the waitstaff and atmosphere were great. The mariachi band was fun as well. Worth going to! View all feedback.

Mangia is the type of restaurant that you go to the counter and choose how much and what you want. Price depends on weight. They have a wide choice from beets to Lo Mein noodles. Then you take your plate and utensils (Plastic) and sit either at a counter facing the street or at tables outside. The woman behind the counter was very patient and welcoming. The food was very good and reasonable. It was an enjoyable meal sitting outside and people watch. Keep in mind tat they close at 7PM.
Mangia, in downtown Montreal, features a wide range of freshly made salads and charges by weight. The more you take, the more you pay. I had a wonderful medley of seafood, chickpeas, mango and tomato, a large slice of home made apple and raisin cake and a can of pop and it cost me just $22 Canadian. The service was very friendly.
Can 't understand the Stingy comment. All salad is charged by weight. Place is spotless, food is fresh daily, made upstairs , minimal oil, large choice of delicious salads (and no Costco lettuce filling). Great Panini variety, often nice pan cooked fresh salmon. Home made muffins, nice selection of Lebanese sweet treats, brownies and low fat cakes. Freshly made hot soups in the cold months, all from the best ingredients minimal salt and no creme . Cafe is great, staff are busy but friendly without being obsequious. Owner George has eyes everywhere, nothing weird at all, he just watches over his customers needs and his staff activity. Tables outside in the warm weather, inside stools looking directly over the street at eye level. I am there at least twice a week, always full of Regulars as well as Visitors . Value for money...outstanding.
We have come twice to this little place during our stay in Montreal and love it. The owner and his son work here and are both lovely friendly, polite and soft spoken. It's peaceful and a really nice dynamic no pomp or over the top noise. It just is what it is. Tried the salmon croquettes, vegetable panini, and hearts of Palm salad (over the two visits not all t once hehe) and my husband had the salami and prosciutto panini. All were excellent although the panini stole my heart. Will definitely come back.
