Last year, the food at Sala wasn't great, expecially the paella. This time around, our group simply adored the meal. We ordered quite a few tapas and left happy and full. Service, as always, is excellent. Just be warned though, on Friday and Saturday nights, the place is packed and quite loud. But you don't notice so much after the first bottle of wine! What langhinl doesn't like about La Sala Rossa:
I would not recommend this place for the flamenco show or for the food. We arrived there a thursday night and it was basically empty. We ordered the calamari and the paella. The calamari tasted like rubber and the paella was edible. The show started around 9 something. The musicians were good but the dancing was not. Montreal has alot of good restaurant do not waste your time here. View all feedback.
Later in the evening there was a show on the upper level, so while we eat, they did the sound check. We couldn't talk and the walls trembled. Also I haven't been there for a few years, but the menu is not as good as it was. Fried Calamari were good.
First came with my father every summer in our trips to Montreal and made a point, any new person I can get into it! Just wonderful food, love the Sangria, and will continue to come back!
Disappointed: This was what I was as a neighborhood institution for large Spanish tapas, and use to enjoy full of people on arrival eating and wine. I should have known something was up there when we were the only table in the restaurant. It's not what it used to be. So sad.
As a visitor in Montreal, we enjoyed this place very much, as it is clearly a local, popular, friendly service, full of life and during our meal, borrowed flamenco music from a private function in the main room. Eat and drink well and prices ok. Not fancy, but at home.
I heard about it before I don't remember going to la sala rossa I think I've been there before but I don't. Remember.
