We discovered this lovely spot on a very cold day in February. We needed a late lunch in a cozy room and this restaurant delivered both needs. We enjoyed the Paris atmosphere, the servers were prompt and pleasant and the food was very good. I had an omelette and my husband had a delicious home-made soup. No crowds on this bitter day although there was a cold draft whenever anyone entered or exited despite the curtain... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about La Petite Ardoise:
We were a group of eight and we went there for a dinner. The service was very bad, waiters are not friendly, no air condition, no music, we loved the food but the atmosphere in general was very bad. Before we pay the bill, the waiter came to us and say that for a table of 8 people an appropriate tips should be at least 15%. I found it a very unacceptable way to guarantee his tips. My group of eight went to this restaurant for dinner. The service was poor, the wait staff were unfriendly, there was no air conditioning or music. We enjoyed the food, but the overall atmosphere was lacking. Before we paid the bill, the waiter informed us that a tip of at least 15% was appropriate for a group of our size. I found this to be an unacceptable way to ensure his gratuity.
On a rainy day in late June, my friend and I were very hungry and decided to stop at La Petite Ardoise in the Laurier West neighborhood. It had been a while since we had been there. We arrived around 1:30 p.m. and most of the lunch crowd had left. Our waitress was lovely and our light lunch exceeded our expectations. I had the Asian salad with a glass of white wine, while my friend had a chicken panini with a glass of red wine. For dessert, we shared the tarte Tatin, which was good but could have been a bit more buttery. We also enjoyed two café allongés. Overall, it was a fantastic lunch on a rainy day. I recommend visiting on a sunny day to enjoy the backyard courtyard.
We used to go there a couple of times a year but the last 2 times we went, we were very disappointed. The last time we went there, we waited an hour before our plates were brought and the waitress didn 't apologize. People that arrived several minutes after us got their food way before us. There was even a waitress that was taking her break and eating before us! Worse, they finally brought our plates, and there was an error in the order, and once again, the waitress didn 't apologize. They finally brought the ' 'missing part ' ' of my wife 's plate once she was almost finished eating. And worse of all : the food is very average Bad, very bad experience overall.
It looks nice, the waiters are nice, but the food is indigestible. It took hours for the stomach ache to go away. Don't go here!
We stumbled upon this charming spot on a chilly day in February. We were in search of a late lunch in a warm and inviting setting, and this restaurant met our expectations perfectly. We loved the Parisian ambiance, the attentive and friendly servers, and the delicious food. I ordered an omelette and my husband enjoyed a flavorful homemade soup. Despite the bitter weather, there were no crowds, although we did experience a cold draft whenever someone entered or exited, despite the curtains at the entrance. It would be helpful to have heavier door protectors in place. We will definitely return when we are in Montréal again.
