Nice place, small but tasty menu. I had the cheese chicharron and the cochinita pibil taco. The food was tasty, and it reminded me of some great old places in California - the real taquerias - well outside of Mexico. Since the restaurant is in Chinatown, it was amusing to see the China was Chinese. What User doesn't like about La Capital Tacos:
We were very excited four our dinner at this restaurant. However, upon arrival, we were told that we could not bring our stroller into the restaurant, and that they also did not have high chairs. I attempted to explain that our daughter was only one year old, and that she could not stand or sit in a regular chair during our meal. The host just said he had nothing for us, and the stroller was not allowed. We therefore... View all feedback.

Since the restaurant is in Chinatown, it was amusing to see the China was Chinese. Service was somewhat slow and our appetizers came late while our main meal came a minute later, having barely had a taste of our starters. I hate it when the kitchen doesn't even try to space things apart. Nonetheless, the food was excellent and tasted pretty authentic so it's still well worth a visit if you're craving for Mexican in Montreal
We therefore had to leave, without having the chance to eat. I'm sure the food is good, but the customer service was not. If you have children who require a stroller and/or high chair, you are not welcome here.
I think we take good tex-mex food for granted where I'm from in America...but this place nails it! Drinks were fantastic, tacos were amazing (I got the beer-battered shrimp, my husband the pork/mango tacos), and the chips and guacamole were good as well. We went on a Monday evening around 7 PM, so we did not experience a line out the door. We were seated right away at two seats at the bar, which were the last two in the place. This place is SMALL so I would not recommend bringing a big group unless it isn't a peak time or you're fine waiting a bit for the big table to clear out. For the owner/management: Highly recommend getting better signage at the entryway that explains why people MUST wait in the little holding area. We and several others got yelled at for coming in to the restaurant and up to the bar (assumed bar seating was seat yourself like most other places). Or get a hostess. Could help things run a little smoother.
Kind service. Great food. Good selection of different tacos. Very authentic Mexican vibe in the middle of China town.
Flew in from the US, and I was looking for a walkable restaurant from the convention center. I found La Capital Tacos - line out the door and all tables were full. Lots of young people packed the joint on a Friday night. I was able to squeeze in at the bar immediately. I liked the Ribaye (way it was spelled on the menu) tacos - the red sauce made them. The green tomato and jalapeño sauce was OK. The Jose Palermo was different- tequila, lime juice, grapefruit juice, soda and salt.
