Tiny, but absolutely fantastic. The set menus change every day, and are 6 or 7 courses. We had the 6-course, only because we didn't realize you have to reserve the 7-course menu a day in advance. The food was delicious and the presentation was beautiful, and the portions are just right - we ended up very satisfied but not over-stuffed. There is a decent drinks menu with sake, wine, and beer options. The price ($39 for... View all feedback.
Portion is small so eat something before you go there. However the experience and the quality of food is excellent. The food, the decoration, the music, and the owner himself, the entire environment will remind you what the tempo of life was used to be before this internet era.
I had my birthday dinner here. This is a place full of Zen, although it is small, it reflects the owner's intentions everywhere.I ordered the omakase set even though it was the most expensive one. The owner (he is also a chef and waiter) tried his best to prepare every dish. The taste was very good and the presentation was exquisite. I was very satisfied. My favorite was Sashimi, especially the scallops which are fresh, crisp and sweet. The ginger ice cream was the highlight and I loved it too! I will definitely come back to try other sets in the future. P.s. Please make an appointment in advance.
We had been meaning to try Jardin Iwaki for quite some time, but never got around to it. When we finally did go a few weeks ago, we had a restaurant experience like no other in Montreal. the chef/owner offers 2 tasting menus that change constantly. Though the menu is always a bit of a surprise (there is no selecting anything, though you can advise the restaurant in advance when making the reservation of any food allergies of course), we loved everything that we were served. Each and every dish was creative and flavourful, and lovingly prepared. We were served on this night by the chef himself who explained every dish. Service was well paces, though you must expect a more leisurely evening, and portion sizes that were adequate, but no more so. The dedication of the chef and his love of cuisine came through in every dish. This restaurant deserves your patronage
One of the best fine japonese in Montreal. Creative, fresh and very tasty, a delight for the mouth. Beyond what I expected. The service is also remarquable. Definitly worth the detour
