Azar - Montréal

Dear residents of NDG and Montreal, Restaurant Azar has recently undergone significant changes. With a new, beautiful menu that is only one month old, the chefs have added lots of love and creativity to their cooking. The new chefs have brought a classy and fancy touch to the dishes. Visit Azar restaurant to experience the magic on the plates for yourself - it will surely wow you. For those who may have had a negative experience in the past, I promise you will be pleasantly surprised if you give it another try.

Went there on a Saturday as a group of 5 not wanting to go too far from where we live. The restaurant ambiance is lovely being run by a friendly staff made up of family. A sister, brother, mom and dad. They were all super friendly, welcoming and asked many times if food was to our liking. The menu has many selections of meats and vegetarian Mediterranean foods. The salads were great as were the brochettes and the meat platter. We are going back this week with other friends.

I really enjoy this restaurant. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious. The breakfast is excellent and the service is top-notch.

I'm not a huge fan of Middle Eastern food, it always seems a tad too tart, though I do like most falafels that are well made, so I wasn't totally enthusiastic about going to Azar with friend. When we arrived, there was no one in the resto but the 12 of us. This is a simple place, relatively unadorned. Apparently, someone who lives in the area said when the card shop next door closed, they took that over and opened up the wall, so it ends up being a large space with plain tables and chairs, and a counter at one end. Two older women served and a man cooked behind the wall behind the counter with a window to the kitchen. Because we were a group, we ordered a fair number of dishes. My friend and I got the platter for two which three of us wanted so they added on an additional person for 1/2 the price more. The huge platter contained skewered meat, nicely grilled, chicken, lamb, beef, and lots of it, rice, babaganoush, humus, salad. It was a feast and very nice food. The soup before this was lovely, lentel and subtly spiced. This changed my view of Middle Eastern food. The service was wonderful, the women really accommodating. By the time we left the place had filled up on one side of the resto and I suspect is a local favorite. Easy to get to by car or by metro. I believe everyone liked their meal, and the environment was quiet enough that we could talk--I honestly don't recall music but if there was music, it was low. Definitely a place to go if you're in the area. Or, if like me, you're iffy about Middle Eastern--this is Lebanese--try this one out and your opinion might change.

A restaurant tucked away in the monkland village. BYOB , family run , authentic amazing food, great kafta and lamb chops that even appeals to the toughest of pallets satisfy. Cozy atmosphere even on a night where it's -20 out.
