We had a nice lunch at Aszu. They have a great little courtyard that's quite charming. The food was good, the service was good. It seemed like more business people were there than tourists. But we liked it and would go back again. View all feedback.
What Myrtle Shanahan doesn't like about Aszu:
For the price, I would say there are much better options within walking distance. The food was inconsistent (had perfectly pan-seared scallops in a brown butter sauce to start followed by a very disappointing and almost thoughtless sweetbread warm salad that I will always remember for its negative traits.) The wine list is decent, I just wish our waiter was more knowledgeable. He kept telling us he would have to chec... View all feedback.
My girlfriend and I took a trip to Montreal earlier this month, fine dined at multiple restaurants, and found La Chronique to be the best of them all.
We went at la Chronique during montreal @ Table and had a great time.
Our hotel receptionist said it was the best Japanese restaurant in Montreal, I don't know if it is the best as we haven't visited the rest but it was excellent. The menu was refreshingly creative with a wide range of Saki including a tasting of 4 for €20, it was great. The interior design is very trendy, but relaxed, the food remarkable and the service perfection. On our second visit a dish we didn't order arrived after informing the waitress she apologised and offered the dish on the house, it was delicious. The great thing about the food is each dish is just the right size to share between 2 enabling you to sample a varied number of dishes. Overall a great taste experience very reasonably priced, a 26ml flask of Saki is €12 (£6) great value. If you like Japanese food Aszu is a must.
We were recommended this restaurant by our hotel Concierge. The court yard was packed and it was a good atmosphere. The atmosphere was sophisticated. The prices reasonable. The food was fresh and creative with good creation of flavours, good design and plating. The wine list was good with a reasonable range of wines by the glass. We had a significant mid meal lull in service which was rapidly corrected by a quiet word to a passing senior staff member. We felt the service glitch was an isolated incident.Overall a good restaurant worth visiting.
