I finally decided to visit Agave after a few years of contemplation. The decor was basic and somewhat outdated in my opinion, lacking the Mexican charm and warmth I expected. The food was disappointing, with stale nachos and main dishes that were just average and not very flavorful. A friend of mine's ex recently opened a new Mexican restaurant, and I just so happen to be a huge fan of Mexican cuisine. Coincidentally, I also know a few friends who share the same love for Mexican food. So, on a freezing cold Sunday, Val, Lea, and I braved the cold and made our way to Agave on Laurier Ouest.
They charged me twice, the food was dry, they also avoid to print my bill to not pay taxes We also ordered some cocktails, nothing special.
Well it is rare I have such a bad experience in a restaurant as I did here.
I'm definitely a fanThe ambiance alone is a win: nice lantern lighting hung as tin stars all throughout the restaurant from high ceilings.
We visited Agave several times during our visit to Montreal. The food was very good and the service was wonderful. It is not often that a restaurant can be a highlight of the trip, but the friendliness at Agave made it one of ours.
