We stumbled across this little gem of a restaurant in the courtyard of the Observatoire. We had two heavenly meals which consisted of duck and salmon accompanied by the best tasting fresh vegetables. We considered the price (25E) including sweet was very reasonable for such a delightful meal and setting. The owner/chef took time to chat to us and made us feel welcome. The young waiter was helpful, but still learning, therefore being on holiday and having all the time in world to sit and enjoy the surroundings this did not matter to us. We would definately go back again. Thank you for a lovely experience.

Nestled in a courtyard close to train station we stumbled on Il Mercato. They feature market fresh food, presented very nicely and offer happy hour wines for 3 Euros/glass. Excellent veal chop, scallops, and duck breast on the 2 course 22 euro menu. The only thing marring a delightful dinner in a great location was the poor service from a waiter who was seemingly clueless about how to keep an order straight.

La place de la babote est un endroit magique et nous avons passe un excellent moment sur la terrasse. Les plats etaient tres bien equilibres avec un tres grand respect des ingredients. A noter: un plat de legumes, vegan, absolutment delicieux. The babote square is a magical secluded place in Montpellier. We had an excellent lunch on the terrasse of il mercato.Food had very well judged tastes with a great respect for the ingredients. To be noted: an excellent vegan dish of vegetables, absolutely delicious.

For their defense, we went there on a Sunday night, but when we don't have good products, we don't open! We tested the tapas, I had never tasted the raw lard ... the rest of the charcuterie was quick to eat. The beef piece was nervous so hard to chew, the homemade fried apples have nothing to envy to those of a large American fast food chain. Lamb skewers were as strong as game, which made us doubt when the product was fresh. All for a relatively expensive price. Beautiful decor, beautiful wine map (the only thing that was good), but service to review.
