Astree - Montpellier

Pour leur défense, nous y sommes allés un dimanche soir, mais quand on a pas de bons produits, on ouvre pas! Nous avons testé les tapas, je n'avais jamais goûté le lard cru ... le reste de la charcuterie était vite écœurant.La pièce de boeuf était nerveuse donc difficile à mâcher, les pommes frites "maison" n'ont quand à elles rien à envier à celles d'une grande chaîne de restauration rapide américaine.Les brochettes d'agneau étaient aussi fortes que du gibier, ce qui nous a mis le doute quand à la fraicheur du produit.Tout cela pour un prix relativement cher.Décor joli, belle carte des vins (c'est d'ailleurs la seule chose qui était bon), mais service à revoir.

We stumbled across this little gem of a restaurant in the courtyard of the Observatoire. We had two heavenly meals which consisted of duck and salmon accompanied by the best tasting fresh vegetables. We considered the price (25E) including sweet was very reasonable for such a delightful meal and setting. The owner/chef took time to chat to us and made us feel welcome. The young waiter was helpful, but still learning, therefore being on holiday and having all the time in world to sit and enjoy the surroundings this did not matter to us. We would definately go back again. Thank you for a lovely experience.

Nestled in a courtyard close to train station we stumbled on Il Mercato. They feature market fresh food, presented very nicely and offer happy hour wines for 3 Euros/glass. Excellent veal chop, scallops, and duck breast on the 2 course 22 euro menu. The only thing marring a delightful dinner in a great location was the poor service from a waiter who was seemingly clueless about how to keep an order straight.

La place de la babote est un endroit magique et nous avons passe un excellent moment sur la terrasse. Les plats etaient tres bien equilibres avec un tres grand respect des ingredients. A noter: un plat de legumes, vegan, absolutment delicieux.The babote square is a magical secluded place in Montpellier. We had an excellent lunch on the terrasse of il mercato.Food had very well judged tastes with a great respect for the ingredients.To be noted: an excellent vegan dish of vegetables, absolutely delicious.

Fixed price two or three course menus with a wide choice of food. Great service, great food, lovely location in a pretty, quiet pedestrian square away from the traffic. Crab salad, scallops, lime mousse in a chocolate sphere. Outstanding. This is our second visit and we will definitely be back for a third.
