This is a great restaurant in the beautiful setting of Montolieu, the village of the books. The lunch menu is fantastic value and the staff are excellent. The wines and food are mainly local and excellent quality. When we go somewhere else for a meal we are usually sorry that we didn't just go here! View all feedback.
What Dikkelvenners doesn't like about Casquette et Chapeau:
One good advice: don’t take your children here! child menu without any choice or flexibility serving food that even some adults would find hard to eat (red duck meat with grilled potato no alternative requests allowed) disco music making a normal conversation challenging unfriendly, uninterested waitress neglecting foreign people (even if French speaking) table on burning hot first floor where the kid’s icecream melt... Montolieu is a beautiful village full of bookdhops, we went there for lunch and loved it. The restaurant has a very nice outdoor terrace, shady and quiet. Friendly service and good food, with (a tasty veggie option which is not on the menu board. Other family members had meat or fish and loved it too. And don't miss the loo, they're fun :
Quiet spot with outdoor tables. Good waitering staff. Although the menu was limited for vegetarians, the waitress and chef worked together to present a tasty plate of veggie treats and the celeriac with mushrooms was particularly delicious! Well done chef as we enjoyed your presentation of food and the experience was simply lovely. We will visit again.
This is a real favourite with us and we have returned every time we are in this part of France. The chef is excellent, producing top class dishes. The staff are wonderful, friendly, welcoming and make everyone feel at home. The position is superb, looking out over a shady tree covered square. Do not miss the chance to enjoy eating at this fabulous restaurant if you are anywhere near this lovely corner of France.
Lovely lunch on the terrace wonderful vegetarian dishes for me (which can be rare in rural France) and my companion raved about the seafood. Just an ideal lunch.
