El Tapatio - Monticello

I thought if I even wanted to post my experience online but I feel as if my experience was unacceptable. Me and my family went to el tapatio because of all the good reviews it had. The food was mediocre. And the price I cannot recall but what was absolutely disgusting was the staff. My mother speaks little English to start. But we all speak fluent English and Spanish. She asked for the restroom in Spanish. And the girls just stared at her. She then pointed my mom which was fine. But she started mocking her in English. Saying “don’t speak to me in spanish” while the other girl laughed. I bit my tongue. Because I was raised to not bring myself to other people’s level.The waitress came and said “ what do you want.” And continued to be rude the entire meal. She slammed pushed our dishes into us. And then came to drop off the tortillas. Throwing them on the table. And saying “ here’s the shells or tortillas or whatever you call them.” As this point we left a smaller tip and walked out the door but as we all walked by the 3 girls were all looking at us and laughing staring at my family as I walked out the door. I wanna think they were laughing at something else but the way they treated my family I highly doubt it.I feel bad because I heard it is a family run restaurant. But I will not be returning or recommending this place to anyone else. Save your money. And your self esteem. And go to any other food place in Monticello.

Food and service is great. Dining area is a bit cramped but it really doesn't matter).

This place gives you the biggest portions. I was stuffed. Great service and good food. Price was very reasonable

Simple diner with authentic Mexican food. The tacos Al Pastor were fantastic! And my wife’s burrito was good. Definitely going back soon.
