I stopped by to pick up some takeout after hearing from my sister and my hairstylist that the food was great. I decided to try the chicken fried steak from their favorites list, and it did not disappoint! The seasoning on the steak was fantastic and added a perfect kick to the dish. I also ordered green beans, which were just average, and the baked sweet potato, which was large and bursting with flavor. While I waite... View all feedback.
What Terry Davis doesn't like about Phil's Road House Grill:
My son took me here for lunch. The exterior isn't particularly eye-catching, but once you step inside, you’re greeted by a warm, homey atmosphere. During our visit, it was clear that the restaurant has a great clientele, as everyone we encountered was incredibly polite! Our waitress was fantastic, the service was excellent, and the food was exceptional! The pulled-pork sandwich plate was just amazing! Don't miss out... View all feedback.
However, the reason I’m giving it less than five stars is that all the food, including the onion rings that I expected to be amazing, arrived at room temperature. Nothing was served hot or warm, including the gravy for the chicken fried steak, which had the potential to be delicious. It was evident that the homemade dishes had been prepared in advance, left out, and then plated for service. The batter on the onion rings and chicken fried steak lacked crunch because they were cold or at room temperature. I could tell that the meal would have been fantastic if it had been freshly prepared and brought to the table. Would I drive two hours to eat here again? Maybe, but only if I happen to be in the area. It was my birthday lunch, and while it was still a good experience, it felt like there was no real effort made in serving. Nevertheless, I understand that many people just want their food quickly without any fuss, so if that’s what you’re after, I encourage you to give it a try.

I definitely plan to return the next time I’m in Montgomery!
I visited this restaurant for the first time to celebrate my birthday, and it was a fantastic experience! I ordered an apple walnut salad with grilled shrimp, blue cheese crumbles, toasted walnuts, grapes, and cranberries, all topped with a delicious balsamic vinaigrette. The highlight was definitely the last six bites filled with all the ingredients at the bottom of the bowl—such a generous portion! It's hands down the best salad I've ever had. To top it off, they surprised me with a free banana pudding for my birthday, which was absolutely decadent! The food and atmosphere were both wonderful. We will definitely be returning!
The pulled pork was a surprise hit. I ordered the two meat plate brisket and pulled pork) expecting the brisket to be the best portion. I was pleasantly surprised to love the pulled pork.
My son took me here for lunch. From the outside, it doesn't really impress. Inside, a good, down-home atmosphere. On this date, an interaction with customers disclosed a clientele of wonderful people. Everyone was so polite! Our waitress was great, the service was great and the food was outstanding!! The pulled-pork sandwich plate was amazing! You must try the sweet potato fries. We both had the pulled-pork sandwich plate with sweet tea and the bill was $34 change, less tip. Ample parking, separate restrooms, comfortable seating and all the country music you can handle!!
