I eat out a lot and although the decor and aesthetic is a plus, I was surprised at how bad or average the food was, especially considering the price four of us came there based on the reviews, and out of the 10 dishes we had, only one was above average.
Tandory is a restaurant where I had the pleasure of experiencing food as a pure art form. Every single part of the meal has its vision on how it should come across and be, and offers a unique artistic statement from the Chef. From the very first entrée, before your starter, which for us was a soup with a distinct coconut taste, a creamy cheese spread to have with your bread, and a delightful hot sauce. We enjoyed a brie starter which came with green leaves, sweet sides and sauce, it was fried and gooey and incredible. I enjoyed the rabbit for the main course, which came with a very homely and rural tasting sauce with peppercorns, and vegetables that had their own statements, and a delightful puree that shared the same ideas as the soup from the entrée. For dessert, the nemesis chocolate cake with orange mousse was like eating rich chords played with all ten fingers and the sustain pedal on a piano. Each mouthful had a long impression that allowed each flavour and texture to present itself to you in order and take their time to fade away. Definitely something to take your time and savour every mouthful with the respect it deserves. Taken as a whole, the meal played out like a symphony, with certain ideas re-appearing in later courses, and every single part of every dish had its own unique statement, vision and idea of what it itself was. This place is beyond food, it is cuisine and art. I am just as impressed with the meal at Tandory as I am seeing my favorite musicians play music live, and I must recommend this place for anyone who enjoys art, to experience the vision of the Chef. And to add, the waiter was very informative, had a great grasp of not only English and Spanish, but also Portuguese, and really helped with his recommendations. A superb restaurant, a must visit.
Was trying to find a good option of Asian fusion food on my trip to Montevideo and this restaurant came out. Was a walking distance from my hotel so I decided to go. Well, when I arrived there was a couple trying to access without reservation, it seems that is a huge mistake due the restaurant was completely packed. I was a little more fortunate and due I had some time absolute could wait for a table. Service is impeccable, provided good advise on the different options in the menu. I did a couple half tapas (not everyone is available in half), good options but didn't killed me... For main got the duck, perfect combination of flavor and portion size, enjoyed with a good wine. When dessert time came, well I made the mistake of trying the tasting option with a couple of lava cake (Choco and Dulce de leche), plus caramelized pineapple and choco cake with a some kind of orange cream... well that is absolutely a No Go! Try something different. Overall was a good option to spend a nice dinner.
This is one of the best restaurants in montevideo. my wife and I love the many aromes used in the food. our taste buds are always happy to visit this restaurant. we were never disappointed by the food and the service is excellent. we highly recommend this restaurant.
Incredible experience! My friend and I visited this restaurant for our anniversary and couldn't have been more pleased. The atmosphere is incredibly romantic, making it the perfect spot for a date night. The staff was attentive, welcoming, and respectful. The food was absolutely delicious, and we especially enjoyed the wine selection. While the prices may be a bit high, the quality and experience make it well worth it. We will definitely be returning in the future.
