Do not miss that this is a hidden gem. the location is magical; she almost feels like entering another world. we went to dinner in a cold and rainy night, and as we hall in the glorious vault, with the huge old weinfässern. it was a manifestation. not only that, it was well heated. (there is a magnificent courtyard for the warm months as well as the dame that served us, was incredibly knowing about eating and wein both specially for this restaurant and in the rule and the history of the native, as well as in the position to remember many different orderings without having to pay attention. the amuse bouches were glorious, the different antipasti and primi better than the other, although the price has to be in the capocollo and burrata the best dish that I have eaten at least in the last year, if no longer. I didn't have a second, but the ones that they all made excellent. our red wine was also excellent; not too overwhelming as it happens sometimes in southern Italy. other reviewers have mentioned the costs; we thought it was extremely good, given the fresh of the locally sourced ingredients and the unique location, not to mention the wonderful staff. I would not hesitate to recommend this unusual place to any demanding diner who knows and appreciates the quality.
Drive on the Monteroni-Lecce road they quite do not realize that a restaurand is hidden on the road. all they see is an old tufo (the local building) cave. as soon as they arrive, the scenario changes, and they are carved into a surprising piece of old industrial architecture, with walls directly into the soft sandstone. the atmosphere is of great suggestion, especially when they dinate in free; Unfortunately, cook is not on the same level. Perhaps they want to surprise their taste, perhaps there is a little affection: the result is an excess of crumble and seasoned, which can leave their mouth too full of contradictory aromas. and also under control keep the cost for what they will order just to avoid unpleasant surprises in the final bill.
We were recommended this place by friends. the location is stunning, and based on this the atmosphere of the restaurant is wonderful. we were really excited when we were there. Unfortunately, eating did not live our expectations (or the preisen.) the ingredients...the regale were excellent (big burrata, capocollo, vegetables, fish etc.), but the dishes simply did not work. for the net we had the scorpion fish, which was very tasteless and underseasoned (and the anesthesia of avocado with this dish was confusing to say the least), and the tuna steak, which was coarsely overcooked and could come out of this ground from a dose. in general, the workers here were great (very courteous), the atmosphere amazing, but the person behind the eating must work a bit on the dressed because there is no excuse if they have so amazing ingredients that they have in puglia.
The location of malcandrino is amazing, embedded in a tufo cave near lecce. beside this, eating is based on traditional taste with a sophisticated finish. we appreciate the appetizers, the pasta was in order, the actie was very good. the service is good and. the owners are ready to present and explain the teller, as well as very competent to recommend the right wein. a program of cultural events completes the picture.
