The setting makes the most of the view all the way down the... read more This is a great spot for lunch before you tackle something a bit more serious, like Monte Sibillia. The setting makes the most of the view all the way down the series of valleys towards the sea. The green of the forests rolls away to an indistinct haze, scattered with a network of smudged villages. In fine weather, you can lunch on the terrace, but note that the elevation above sea level means that the climate can be more north European than Mediterranean. Also, those who find cigarette smoke fastidioso can occasionally find it a pain. Alternatively, there is an indoor room with huge windows maximizing said view. And no smoke. Lunch is typical of the Marche and can suit every taste and pocket. My favorite is a selection of cured meats and cheeses, with crusty bread and fizzy water, (since I am normally the driver). My passengers tell me the beer is good. You will see groups of people tucking into fairly substantial meals, which look yummy, although too much for me at lunchtime. The service is friendly and very helpful. I did not hear any English spoken, although for us this is not a problem. This is not a fast food joint, since the meals appear to be prepared after you place your order. IMHO this is a plus point. Parking immediately outside is time limited, although I have no views on enforcement. If you are worried, there is an unlimited car park across the road and down a ramp. That's where we normally park.

Bar Zocchi is directly opposite the shuttle bus that takes you from Montemonaco to the start of the Monte Sibilla hiking trail. At the end of a long day, we couldn’t have found a better spot to sit out on the balcony terrace, overlooking the rolling valleys and surrounding countryside and re-live our day’s adventures.
